What LED companies are pushing limits and doing interesting things? Whose got new tech coming that gets your parts tingly? Whats something that is developing in the industry, or starting to be studied that really interests you?

NOT looking to have a Mars Vs SF or HLG vs Mejiu (sp) and what not.:redcard:

Looking more for FACTS and REALITY BASED speculations. I don't want tons of youtube and I don't have social media to follow all the hotness, so fill a tech adverse guy in to the happenings!

Go FC...it's time we Drove the market.....
To start it off myself:

I'm interested in seeing where INTEGRATED UV-B goes. I want timers that will flash the lights every 15 minutes for an hour a day or whatever I want, but I want it to work on the same controller that came with the light originally. Gavita is releasing an UV light for my bar, but I'm not sure how it will integrate, and the exact amounts its releasing of A vs B and so on. I have inquired and am waiting on a response.

I'm a Scynce LED user in my veg tent, and I am loving their spectrum control, and I'm excited to see how they continue to develop it. I expect other companies to be licensing their tech, or copying it, and I think it will be interesting. It also gives growers unparalleled control over the spectrum to do all sorts of experiments on what they like best. BRO SCIENCE UNLEASHED!:crying::crying:

Maybe, the question should be broadened to not just LED technology, but any/all innovative indoor growing lighting technologies.

LED technology has been around a relatively long time. Has it maxxed out, reached or soon reaching its technological limits, in terms of our interests?

I’m open to it! Really anything lighting I guess!

A related question: Are LED fixtures about a cheap as they will ever get, or can we expect technological advances to significantly reduce our costs?

Generally with most technologies the products get significantly cheaper with time, including as they go from niche to mainstream/large markets. For example, 10x or even 100x (or more) cost eduction and/or increases in productivity or efficiency are common, such as with microchips manufacturing. But this doesn't seem to be carrying over to LEDs, which are not much different to make vs. microchips. Why are LEDs, quantum boards, COBs, etc. prices still so relatively high? Not large enough market yet? Too many small/bit players lacking sufficient critical mass to develop their own cost-effective R&D and manufacturing? Growers too conservative a market, stick with what they know? These technologies have already maxxed out, not much room left for improvements?

I think the led market is still young and we are 2-3 generations of lighting until it is “maxed out” and a new tech developes in 20 years and people can argue about it like led/hps now

I also think prices aren’t dropping for two reasons:
1) we are getting improved lights for similar pricing as they improve. So tech matures but as they add new features the price stays flatish and goes up a bit.

2) people are buying them like fucking hot cakes, why lower your price?:d5:

Lazer white lights for horticulture. Its probably about 10 yrs away from being introduced to the mainstream. Maybe 15 yrs.

Accelerates growth in plant cells.

Honestly, I just watch this place! Plenty of top growers doing things all a bit differently. I've been reading and dissecting everyones setups and grow styles. I'm quite impressed with the knowledge here alone. Definitely some very smart people keeping up on the edge of things.

In fact, this one guy, I think his name is @Filthy_Casual , has a realllly nice light setup. So I read his thread a ton and see what he's up to! hahahah

Thanks man! I’m learning too tho and trying to see what everyone has got! I’ve noticed lots of different styles and lots of different lights but tons of banging grows. It’s really impressive what some guys do on here. I’m aiming to get 3lbs a grow in my big tent, once I get that going pretty regular I’ll feel like I’ve got it down.

I’ve read about lazer lighting in cars, not plants! Gonna give this a read.
“Freaking lazer beams” :crying:
