Water ph at 7.8, getting ugly fast!

I used to use baking soda for ph up then @Waira said something in a post about it possibly causing some sort of toxicity. Since I grabbed a bag of tnb naturals it wasn’t expensive and it seems to be strong so not much needed this bag is gonna last me a long long time and it’s super stable.
That's interesting lucky for me I've only ever used it 2x so far in 2yrs so I haven't run into that but that's good info.

Well I got some citric acid, potent stuff! 1/2 tsp dropped 5 gals to 3.8! I reduced it with tap water til I got to 6.2, around 12 gallons. Poured through with a 1 quart watering can for 2 hours!
Mixed up a half batch of EJ, ph at4, luckily I had ph up on hand, brought it to 6.2, fed 1 gal.
Gonna do the younger girl this evening.
Thanks again, and wish me luck lol

Ok, so yesterday I totally forgot to check the runoff at the beginning of the flush, but I did check it at the end of the first 4 gals, it was 6.3. I put the rest of the water through cause
I wanted to do a thorough job, and it was ready to go, but do I really need to keep going once the runoff is close to what I want? It was 6.2 at the end btw. Not trying to be lazy this time haha, just want to know what I’m looking for during the process.
Thanks!

There no real hard fast rule for this but u want to do it the least amount possible bc it can shock ur plant so next feed if u were doing 500ppm do 400 350 for a day or 2 for it to recover ect

So I’m halfway through the second plant. Water adjusted to 6.2, the first runoff I got was 5.5.
End of first run was 5.9. Keeping in mind I took the sample from the bottom as soon as I finished up top, so there was probably still a couple quarts left to run out.
After the first 5gal I let it sit until wasnt dripping out the bottom.
First runoff from second 5 gal run was 6.1.
Should know the end in an hour or so.
So it seems like the soil is acidic besides.
My instinct is to incorporate a little oyster shell meal into the soil and feed a balanced EJ mix.
Will the oyster shell work fast enough, or am I taking a chance and should just get some lime?
Am I off track entirely?
Thanks again!

Imho I would just ph ur water on water days and ph ur feed on the opposite or how ever you regime is more than likely the ph is off bc wat u were putting in not bc of the soil but let's see wat others say on this topic also did or can u measure the ppm/ec as that will give u an idea of how much food they are eating

No I have not. It was never really something I worried about. I’ve basically always just cut whatever soil I was using with perlite till it was nice and loose, then gave it earth juice. I also potted up all the time so there was fresh soil, and learned to deal with the low ph of earth juice by adding oyster shell. Not that it ever worked flawlessly, but it was a shitty system I was used to. I can find the city water report and see if they publish an average or something, but I’m sure it floats.
Paying my idiot taxes here lol

Well, nutes in at 6.5, runoff at 6.4.
The other plant looks super depressed.

Well things are improving, color returning to older, younger no longer looks blue.
When I flushed the younger plant with ph 6.2 water, the runoff was 5.5 after first 5 gals, 6.2 after the second, and 6.4 after 1 gal of EJ adjusted to 6.5.
Thanks again everybody, I’ll use my ph pen often!
