Hi,
Not planning on any kinda breeding project, but I got some really nice photo strans and if any REALLY catch my eye I would like to try the long tedious process of making it into an auto... To make project of all my own accord, truly my own would vision seeds Lowryder fit the bill? Any info on if it's stable? Aren't most autos or majority use Lowryder for the auto gene? Really excited here about playing with clones and single branch pollenation... Thoughts on that Lowryder as a good choice to introduce the auto gene to photo strain?

Lowryder is feeble. That's why they released lowryder 2. If you wanted it to be entirely yours, you would have to start with a ruderalis landrace. The shorter the growing season, the faster the ruderalis must be. Thus ruderalis from the far north seems preferable for fast flowering. Those Mexican ruderalis are interesting because autoflower has no advantage at that latitude. Thus I ask myself what advantage they do bring. There must be some for them to survive. If you look at auto genetics, the popular photos were crossed with LR1 then when LR2 came out they did exactly the same. One obvious solution is make a multi-cross auto with ruderalis genetics from several sources. The idea that at least one of these sources will provide you with the alleles that you want.

Suppose you cross and you find 10% autoflower in the F1. Is it better to go forward with them, or should they be discarded instead using the autoflowers coming from the F2?

Ehhh meh! Lol I guess I just have grandiose ideas... And not enough space or time to put into such things... Really wish it was like cooking you can just add a few things together and make something you like.... They had another decent promotion over at the attitude and I always keep hearing about how good plain old c99 is... So I grabbed a pack of the female seeds version... So I had to pick a bit more to qualify for the deal so I grabbed a pack if the lowryder, just messaged attitude and hope they can change the order, as it hasn't shipped yet... Canceling the lowryder and going to go with DP Tonys Strawberry Cough, another great strain I heard for anxiety issues... (Which I suffer from ) thanks for the enlightenment and reinforcement of jutst growing bud! :smokebuds: bho here I come  got a case of vector just waiting for a steady supply of meds...
Thanks for the info and quick response thud! Saved me from a unneeded purchase

My 2 cents is cross it with any proper stud(male keeper) its your first pollen chucking experiment, it will be fun to make your own seeds.
You should probably stick to auto X auto or photo X photo. Then when you know what your doing after a few breeding runs you will know more of what you want and how to do it right.

 have done alot of f1's of different crosses.... Auto x Auto, I guess ultimately my goal is to supply myself with meds and have some fun creating along the way... As I feel it would be more "genuine" to take my time grow out all my photos, run s1's on the costly seeds (will do the s1's all fem) that way once I grow out a lady clone her a couple of times and do s1's I can move onto another strain... Than I will eventually have enough s1's that I can freely play with them without worrying about loosing them in by having them in seed form... I guess the strains available by the breeders are good as they are... Guess ill not fix the wheel ;) just pimp my own wheels out when I feel like it... Honestly besides crossing auto a to auto a for more seeds of "auto 1" than am going to concentrate much more on the photo side of things for a bit... Just waiting for these dragons to finish up
I love this hobby SO MUCH its all I want to do all day... ONE DAY I will move to a secluded place with a bit of land, than can play till my hearts content...

I have read several of your posts, it's not the c99 because you seem to do this often. Swayed by every sales pitch from the vendor posing as a delighted customer. One week it is the search for the fastest, then the strongest, then the fruitiest. At the end of each drift you buy a pack to lock down your decision so you can move on. Then you do the same again. amassing a seed collection. The problem is you don't have the information needed to make the choice. I notice that Kosher Kush has won the indica award the last 3 years in a row. It can't be bad. Decision made without reference to forum posts.

thud you got it spot on I guess, its like an addiction in it self... well, im set for now I keep telling myself... Just one more purchase of the fire x c99 cross, than Im just going to get the grow on.... will actually be another welcoming change this harvest as only one plant is seeded, all the rest which will be ready id say in the four weeks is all BUD! So, I do appreciate everyone putting up with my crazieness, it's really just mostly I got so many ideas spinning in head, and really HAVE NO ONE in the real world to sound off on... as the one or two people I know, could care less about bud or anything to do with it... they "put up" with it, as they no what the benifits it has me for me medically.... So please if Im posting anything along these lines PLEASE SOMEONE stop me... Im Yodabuds and Im a seed collecting addict..

here is my 2 cents.
I agree with thud lowryder was feeble for size and yield, but it had a great taste!

Joint doctor improved on these traits by mixing it with santa maria and came up with lowryder 2.

for growing lowryder 2 is much better but for breeding your own auto it is not. the reasons for this are 1. by mixing with santa maria you inherit the traits of s.m. and influence your further crosses. 2. by crossing with santa maria you have more of a possibility of receiving these photo genes in your cross not the auto genes you want.

the benefit is that your new strains will be bigger from the start.

what I am trying to say is if you want a breed that is your own start with the purest ruderalis available to you. If you wanted to make your own lemonade you wouldn't start with lemon flavoured water, you would just use pure water and add other ingredients to your own taste.

It will take a few generations but making your own strains is worth the effort and is very rewarding so give it a go yoda I guarantee you will enjoy the process and get some good bud to boot!!!
