Hello AFN.. :woohoo1: ..today's subjects are the SeedStockers Thunder Banana Auto whom I gave a tidy up today....first pic is one half done, so you can see how wild they have become over just a few days since I last cut them...just want to share a thought with you AFN...I find growing the way I do, seems to be a much more immersive experience than just letting them grow naturally bcoz instead of just working a few tips with one main, you try to get the best out of multiple tips which is much more fun....for me anyways :jump: :jump: ......here come tha pics...

The
Dragon Seeds Dragonfruit are also finishing up well...the split stem will be coming down 2moz and faces a dry night tonight and the other is starting to finish now as I have seen some orange pistils starting to appear, she is in wk12....and I am expecting her to finish fast...
Have the greatest of days AFN!! and remember to visit again tomorrow for the
Dragonfruit split stem lady coming down pics...T.T.F.N.A.F.N...:smokeit:

woop woop - look how happy those Thunder Banana look, they are truly loving it
Thank you my dude, I am always totally amazed at how much the plants I grow, get done under just one bulb, that only has 315w running :yoinks: :yoinks: :yoinks: ...I have done a few grows now(I think? Hahahaha)and the way I am wired, whenever I do something I always try to expand it, in this case by expand it would have meant a bigger tent and brighter lights!!!.…..I have dabbled ofc but I didn't think I would always come back to just a single 315w CMH light!!...I wish more people grew with them..thank you again dude and sorry for chewin' your ear off haha

There is a lot to be said about MH/CMH and HPS lights - it was torture moving away from them to LED. The results speak for themselves I think, and I would be very interested to hear your views on trichome maturation under them?
In my view, LED are pretty crap at taking the plant to full maturation with under ripe trichome heads and wonky stalks, whereas when I used to start woth an MH and finish up with HPS the trichomes finished up beautifully, big bulbous glands on strong stalks. Now woth the newer fancier lights with a broader spectrum and some with UVa/b has improved things for sure - but still not there.

Do you use the same fittings for a CMH as with a regular MH? I have some Gavita ballasts floating around somewhere - would they work?

My thoughts on trich maturation are pretty old skool dude, I think that a lamp does a better job unless you are going to pay top £££ for high end LED, where you will then get the same results as a lamp.....unless you build your own rig...
.... having said all that dude, I have to add that I haven't ever grown with a HPS as I always considered it too much energy, 400-600w would have been needed for me I think(?)and I think the same way about LED too really...I don't know if I could get the same results with 315w of either HPS or LED...also I have read of some dudes building their own rigs that are super bright with good results for low watts, but I personally don't have the knowledge about doing this or the inclination to do it haha:crying:...and IDK about the Gavita ballasts dude...CMH bulbs deffo need a CMH ballast as it uses square wave frequency, instead of whatever HPS use, so idk dude...Gavita do make CMH products and I think I have seen a variable setting ballast, but idk if it was Gavita....:d5::pass:

I would be running a CMH if heat and energy usage wasn't so high for the smaller grow area I have available. So I decided to travel down a deep, deep, deep rabbit hole of building my own LED setup with specialized led's addressing the areas that commercially built led lights were/are lacking. Far more invested in this than I care to share, LOL

I actually think a combo of CMH with led's targeting specific areas would be the cats meow!

Loads of respect for building your own rig dude:bow:....I think CMH+LED is a great idea and I would be up for it...IF BY SOME CHANCE I GOT TO TRIAL A HIGH END LED...:eyebrows:...I have a couple of LED's stashed about and I think I did try it once...but I didn't have good enuff LED's.
