Hi

Stopped smoking tobacco joints last year and now want to quit my bong. Anyone got any recommendations for vaporizers? I have some lovely homegrown Mephisto bud that I want to start vaping as soon as possible. Looking for something easy to use and portable.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Do yourself a favour... save some moneys and get yourself a Pax 3 .. dry herb and concentrate. 10 yr warranty.

its pricey but I wouldent be without mine... I dont use a bong or a joint anymore and all my friends love it when they visit.
small discrete and easy to use. 10 yr warranty

Its a high end vape ( like number 1 or 2 depending on which list you read) costs a fuckload and works good.
you use less weed and it tastes awesome. did I mention 10 yr warranty?

you can bluetooth it to your phone to get the right heat setting profile for your particular weed strain and tastes.. oh yeah its got a 10 yr warranty:d5:

Dont buy cheap shit vapes you will be turned off vaping forever.
Dont buy cartridge vapes we will eventually die but you will die quicker if you use a cartridge vape.:naughtystep:

Grind fine and pack loosely just tight enough so when you turn it over it dosent fall out of the chamber.

Use the small chamber instead of the big one even when you have friends over and just repack.. it tastes better and you get higher.

If you use it daily clean out the chamber and the heat tube with a pipe cleaner and alcohol once a week to get all the crap and resin out.

Keep your AVW .. (already vaped weed) in a jar .. get your wife/girlfriend/significant other (insert husband/boyfriend/sexslave/gimp if thats your thing) to make a cheesecake and mix the AVW into the crumble base.(really) ...(really really)

ok So I bang on about the Pax 3 and the warranty... it really is that good and well... when the battery shits itself after (being used every day of the week multiple times medically by both the wife and myself ..and friends on weekends /special occasions etc) 7 years Ill be sending it in and getting a new one :)

The ten year warranty on Pax3 excludes "Normal performance degradation of batteries" (quote is from the Pax website here https://www.pax.com/pages/warranty ), so don't count on free replacement of a seven year old unit, or for that matter replacement of the battery alone once it winds down over time.

Not saying the Pax 3 isn't nice, it is. Very. But not the only alternative.

Arizer makes some nice portable vapes too. I have the Air II and like it. One advantage to it is that the glass stem that holds the bud is the only thing that normally needs cleaning, and all you need to do is drop it in a small container of isopropyl alcohol over night and give it a wipe and water rinse, and it is good as new. I have had mine for more than a year, used maybe semi-daily, and have yet to clean the main unit in any way. The other advantage, a big one in my mind, is that the battery is easily removable for replacement, and off brand equivalents are available at a reasonable price. The removable battery also means that you can keep a charged spare.

Anyway, there are lots of options, Arizer and Pax are both good, and and there are others - all have their good and less good points. Definitely be careful about the cheapies though, odds are good that you will just end up replacing, especially if you get to try good weed in a more expensive convection unit. The flavor of the initial hits may be a new experience for you. And the efficiency is higher than burning the weed. Yer stash will just keep going on, and, puff, on.

Good luck with deciding @dwizzlex. :goodluck::cheers:

As a 1st vaporizer, I suggest a Boundless CFX or Arizer Solo II. These are sturdy, well-powered vaporizers that will do a good job both as portables and home use. If being more stealthy is needed, the Arizer Air should be small enough while, as noted, it has replaceable, rechargeable batteries (which can use generic rechargers).

Keep in mind that what batteries are used and how recharging is handled are among the things to look at. Such as, do you need to use only manufacturer's recharger or even its custom batteries; is the battery even able to be replaced by users; how do manufacturers handle any battery issues after a time (such as some just expect you to buy a new unit, it's not worth what they charge to do a replacement -- just like most consumer electronic devices.

But a good vaporizer (fitting your needs/uses) should right off provide much more good stuff per same amount of herb vs. smoking, if only because you aren't losing maybe 1/3rd right off to being burned up (converted to carbon dioxide, water vapor, and incompletely combusted organics (char; soot; carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons/PAHs).

My vote goes to Mighty! Get an original if you can afford it. Otherwise, get a knockoff with good reviews cos there are some different grades out there. They work the same. Only thing inferior is the mouth piece, as it don't last long even with maintenance. But this is pretty much the same, original or knockoff. Only that the original mouthpiece lasts a little longer. Whether you buy an original or knockoff, replace mouthpiece with knockoffs. You can buy a dozen. I bought more. Change the mouthpiece and it feels brand new.

Imo, the all around convection + conduction heating method by Mighty is the best among all portable dry herb vapes. I've tried many this past year. This is the core of a vaporizer imo. All other functions comes second. Most important thing should always be how efficiently it extracts, and how it tastes.

An example is the Davinci IQ. It has so many interesting and fancy functions. Made me wanna try one although its a 100% conduction vaporizer. Big mistake! Its a terrible vape. Lousy extraction lousy taste. Hot battery. The fancy functions meant nothing if it cannot perform its core function, which is extraction.

Avoid conduction based vapes unless money is an issue. If thats the case, go cheap cos they are pretty much the same at its core. Its an early ecig tech which is cheap to produce.

Thanks for the advice. I've had a look at the Pax 3 but was put off by the cost, but I accept that you get what you pay for. I'll consult my gimp this evening.
Cheers.

Thanks for the advice. Found a store selling off the Solo 2 for about £140.00, so I'm tempted. One think I'm not sure about is batteries. Can they be changed? Are they charged by USB? If the battery goes, is that it, need to buy a new vaporizer?

I've a solo2 for approx.6 months, very happy with it. Usb charging, I use it ~3 times a day or more, which requires me to charge it every 7- 14 days, dependent on how long my session lasts, usually 5- 8 minutes, taste is very good, not the best when comparing it to the storz volcano, or mighty. It uses very little material, good for a session with up to 2 people, extremely easy to clean. Not very pocketable for on the go----on the go I use xmax starry which is stealth and decent vapor. I highly recommend the solo2 as a mid range cost vape. Yes you do get what you pay for when it comes to vapes. Also, at times, I use xmax starry with bong adapter for extremely smooth hits, which I am very fond of. For solo2 battery replacement, I believe you must send it to the company for replacement, but I have not read of battery failures, but have read customer support from arizer is highly rated. My son has a pax 2, he criticizes it for its oven/chamber - I dont recall why- maybe cleaning. When I used the pax, I felt it was very stealth, but didnt like the ease of temperature adjustment compared to the starry. I liked the flexibility of the starry 18650 battery, have a couple extra batteries when needed. I've had the starry for ~2 years without any problems. I only use my vapes for flower. Once I started vaping, I feel so much better and will never go back to combustion. If you are looking for the best taste, like the above poster stated, you should buy a convection vape.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Really helpful. I'm persuaded to order the Solo 2 and see how it goes.
