ok I’ve been on this site for a few months and been watching all the grow contests. Seen solo cup, 2 liter bottle, dwc, soil, photo plant, auto plant, etc etc etc. now I’m curious if this would work or not. They have upside down tomomato plant pots. Could use grow a canabis plant upside down with light on the floor in like a blacked out grow tent? If so what effects would it have on the plant? I didn’t know where to post this question. Just sitting here having a few drinks and got to thinking that would be cool to see if anyone has done that. Anyone have any thoughts or has anyone tried this?

I wouldn’t try it , sounds dangerous. Pouring water over top of your light could be a butt puckering experience lol! Step away from the pipe your cut off lol! just kidding man . Better to stick to tried & true techniques . A buddy of mine tried it outside & it grew up towards the sun & gravity wouldn’t allow the water to stay in the container, thus wasting $ on nutes . Cool stoner brain storm tho

I have wondered the same. But obviously lights would have to be water proof. I have some 12v led lightbars i used last grow and may have a new ideal for 2 liter grow off lol.

But if you have two lights off to the sides not directly under it and if you grow outside the plant reaches for the light. I know we should stick with what we know works buuuuttttt how do we know this won’t be better lol. I may end up trying it I have two 15 buck full spectrum led lights I’m not using and plenty of supersoil the only issue is I only have one tent maybe I’ll buy a cheap short tent to try it. Still would love to see if anyone else has tried this.

Actually I will find the research I found few years back using this same method and having negative ion machines running in the room at same time he had 4-6 HP's 600+ bulbs bolted to his shop floor and the plants grew down about 3-4 ft then the branches because of nature of a plant and gravity they started to grow up towards ceiling but he then flipped to flower and the buds kinda grew like a banana but all stayed at eye level pretty much because of how they grew up wards is why the ion machines come in to play, I think he got like 1-2 lbs from it.

Will do for sure bub

Damn...wish i could remember where i saw it....i saw a grow where the table was half moon shaped, and the plants(SoG style flowered clones) went up the sides of this setup and grew toward the light horizontally. To me it looked like it had massive potential using a technique that already produces insane grams per watt. If i am recalling correctly it was some kind of tube flood system.(or maybe NFT??)

don't think it would work well.
plants do grow toward the light, so putting the light on the floor would help with that, but they can also sense gravity. the roots grow toward gravity(they sense it in the roottip), but the abovegroundparts also react to gravity, but they grow away from it.

also, kind of wondering what you would hope to achieve with it. just for fun, because you can?
for practical reasons I think it would be pretty inconvenient, making sure no soil falls out the bottom while still giving room for the stem to expand, water draining out the bottom dripping all over the buds(and taking pieces of soil with it that get stuck in your buds), etc.
