Problem: Twisted, mangled leaves
Medium/grow method: FFOF soil
Feed: and supplements used: No nutes used
water source: 8.2 ph filtered tap water. i don't ph down the water.
Strain/age: tangerine dream sativa auto 25 days old
light used: 450W LED
Climate: 70-80F 50-60% RH

Hey guys, first time grower here. I'm trying to figure out what is causing my problems and despite hours of searching i can't really identify anything that makes sense, but now i do have suspicions and need some advice and an action plan.

a few key details:
started with twisting, curled, 'weak' leaf growth. one plant exhibiting yellowed tips (pictured)

I have four plants. 3 out of the 4 are exhibiting this problem. I cannot figure out why all the plants are not affected, as i have done the same exact thing to every one.
I water every 2-3 days...i wait until the soil is dry about an inch down and then water to a slight runoff.

also, theories as to why aren't all plants affected? one of my plants looks perfect and has started a beautiful preflowering.

ive included one pic of my tent setup, in case you guys catch anything ive setup wrong

I've had quite a few wrinkled leaves during early growth and they always work themselves out. I've put several seedlings in the box and ruthlessly interrogated them, but they remain tight lipped to this day.

I have a dimmable LED light, so I've had it on about 75% power Blue/White at about 24" above the canopy -- why, does it seem like burning to you? It went through my mind briefly, but would that explain even some of the lower canopy growing oddly?

FFOF is too rich.
That is looking like early N toxicity.

You're LED, especially running just blue/white is not getting LST (leaf surface temperature) to an optimal range - inability to efficient metabolize. See more here

You need to know in soil PH to know where your water PH should be. 8.2 sounds excessively alkaline - but again, maybe not pending acidity of soil PH.

The symptoms are consistent enough (3of4) to say with confidence that these issues are a combination of environmental factors. The sole plant in a better state may be attributed to genetics variation or poorly mixed medium (in this case to its betterment, avoiding some of the 'hot' spots).

Twisted growth can be a sign of low calcium. Either from lack of uptake, or a deficiency.

FoxFarms is known for unstable pH issues. I gave up on them a little over a year ago. Ran FG HF, ran that soil for more than a decade.
Slurry test medium looking for low pH would be my first step.

Hey guys, I really appreciate the insightful replies!

So, I turned up the red lights in the tent a bit per Architects's recommendation, and I did a runoff and a slurry test:

Slurry test with distilled water:
distilled water ph: 7
slurry ph: 6.2

Runoff ph with tap water: 6.0

Im not sure what to interpret about these values....they seem normal to me. What do you guys say?

The damage is not any worse but not any better. Although I noticed that a few pistils are brown at the tips of one of the affected plants

FFOF ph is identified at 6.3-6.8. Your slurry, with 7ph distilled in, is definitely on the acidic side of that scale. I wouldn't rule out a sub 6 in soil ph.

If I'm watering with 8.2 and my in soil is 6, my potential hydrogen is not dropping below 6.8-7. this is too high.

You want to ph down your water input to a ~7 and await a response.

Try and get your environment to 85f / 50rh.

Dude right about the soil being hot. You can see the leaves are beginning to slightly claw. Cant do anything now. Only use water. In a couple weeks that plant should use up all the nutrition and youll have to supplement it. If the plant starts to get really burned. youll have to flush the heck out of that soil. Next time use happy frog soil
