Hello,
Let's get down to the 'nitty gritty' of this thread, straight away. Basically, growing Auto seeds - Candy Kush in Soil and DWC. Soil plants are just about finished and DWC plants (germed at the same time) are still at least three weeks behind.

That is my first question: Why?

Okay. They had a fairly bad start. But is that the only reason? The plants look lovely at the moment and flowering well. One plant is at least two weeks ahead of the other though. They are in the same bucket. Could this be just due to me needing to tweek my growing skills and too much twerking my plants (by this I mean just adoring them and watching them for endless hours rather than being a bit more constructive with my time with the plants).

Second question: I have set myself a personel target of harvesting 400g in a tent on its side 80x120x180. So not much less than a square and a half meter of area. I will be using one 400HPS and two 4x2ft T5 setups. Is this possible?

This is my idea: Start plants in 1L Air pots, with light compost and high perlite content.. Grow till preflower. Then submerse in DWC buckets. But fill buckets with perlite and no lid. With air stone and 2inch of res water in bottom of each bucket. 2x20L buckets. I was thinking of 4 in soil too, but should I add more DWC buckets instead? (I know it isn't strictly DWC)

Feed back would be gratefully appreciated. Peace x

Morning Whitey ... welcome to the site :smokebuds:I think they take longer in hydro coz they get a lot bigger ,so need more time to fully mature but thats just mo !.

Your idea should work fine but is more a airpot / hempy hybrid system & nothing like DWC apart from you will use a 20L bucket lol. Google "Autopots" & check out the "air dome" that is supplied with it ?....may be helpful to you mate & is basically an airstone with a cage surrounding it so the media wont cover & block it. Ideal for your idea !. Also check some of the hempy bucket grows on here for some inspiration.

good luck bud :smokebuds:

Thanks DWCocha, yeah you are right. Just like hempy buckets. And if it is right what you say about DWC plants taking longer 'cos they get bigger, then I think I will stick to pure DWC. I also don't like the idea of buying all that perlite.

I have several 20L oxy pots. So should get them put to use. At the moment I have two Candy Kush Auto in a 15L DWC. They are taking forever. I was growing them with four other Kushes and they grew so much quicker and healthier, to start with. So, when then 2 DWC plants started to grow, they were struggling for light. 3 of the soil plants are gone now and the remaining DWC plants really seem to differ in age. One looks like it will be ready very soon the other could go for another 3 or 4! taking the over all time to around 15 to 16 weeks! There is definately lots of tweeking necessary for my next grow. Feeding when very young was something I was over eager with - nearly killing one plant. But, it picked up. My res EC is running around 1.00. I am using Growth Technologies Ionic Bloom. Should I be thinking about dropping the nute amount? I also have never really used Cal Mag or Epsom salts. Should I be?

I will show photos of the two Kushes in DWC over the next few days. Here is a picture of one of the main leaders, on one of theDWC plants. The other picture shows the two DWC plants squashed in the middle by the soil plants.

Here is my latest update on my Candy Kush autofems. Hard to tell - but there are two plants in the same res. one behind the other. The back one is just about ready - at 14 weeks old! And no trichs changing caramel or brown. The fron plant is behind about two weeks - maybe more. But I am happy with them. x "pher Wiggle"
