Are there any good ways to take a seedling in a solo cup and put it in the final pot that imparts very minimal stress on the plant so it's really not a transplant. Like you're not even removing the plant from the solo cup. Or you can peel the solo cup away in a very low stress way and then place it in the pot.

I start in cups every grow. Many do not recommend this, but if you are very careful it works fine.

For each plant, use two solo cups. Cut the bottom out of the first one and cut it all the way up one side. Make a drain hole in the bottom of the second one. Stick the first one inside the second one. To germinate, put barely damp soil in the cup, add seed, spray 2-3 times with water mister, tape a sandwich bag over the top, remove as soon as the seed pops up. I set mine on a heating mat until they pop up. Let them get a little on the dry side before CAREFULLY removing from cup and dropping into hole in pot.

Solo cup is my tried and true way. I start with 2 cups like @bartlancertp but I don't split the inner cup on the side. After 2 weeks, (or until sex is declared with reg. beans),I plant the inner cup about half way down into the final pot. :peace:

Half way down is so the roots can get in to the wider and deeper big pot instead of being constrained by the cup that is fully sunk in the pot?

I just drooped $20 on a bag of rapid rooter plugs quantity 50! Going to try them for a while. So far I like them. I was going to germinate in the plugs and after ~first set drop the plug in a cup. Then drop the cup in the final pot when its time. Thanks for the ideas though. I'll steal some of that for sure.

I've used the rooters, but I only grow 2 - 4 plants at a time. In the meantime, the leftover rooters tend to get mold and I have to toss them out. So instead of rooters I soak my beans for 24 hours, then they go in a Tupperware container, (between a damp paper towel), on a heat mat. Once they have tails I plant them in the double dixie cup, (which is 1/2 full of my grow medium). I water the medium prior to planting, and then use a nail to make a hole. Plant the sprout just deep enough for the cracked seed to show, and then sprinkle just enough dry medium to cover. I then cover the cup in plastic, and place it in a warm dark place. Once the sprout has reached the plastic at the top of the cup, I backfill with medium, water, and place it under the light. I also put a clear dome over the cup to hold humidity. I know this is a long post, but this method has never failed me. I've tried other methods and been hit with damp off, or seeds not germing. Again, sorry for the long post! :peace:

Peace Needy Weedy. That attention to detail is what it takes to get results. I also start off 2 at a time. Most plants is 6-8 in the tent max. So my stash of rooters will last a while. I vacusealed the extras.

I'm trying to avoid having to move a tap root out of a paper towel. So trying the plugs for germ instead. Will see how she sows.

Take plant off solo cup.
Or cut bottom of solo cup carefully.

People are too much affraid of doing this. It's a plant/weed, they bounce back.

You're right. I'm afraid I'll hurt the plant. I'll take every measure to make sure all works out as good as it can get!

I am a new indoor grower and used peat pellets. The moment the seeds cracked, I took them to their final pots, gently cut away the netting and put them in Pro mix hp. It was so fast they didn't even know it happened.
