So after a few grows I have worked out a lot of my issues but one is still persisting. As my plants mature and the buds look good and ripe to the eye I pull out my loupe and check the trichomes, still clear, so I keep growing. Now instead of maturing and trichomes changing color, new growth starts, like little foxtails. I have tried turning down the light at the end to simulate the end of the season but being autos that shouldn't matter, and it also didn't help. Anyone else experience this or have any input?
Thanks

Could you post some pictures?

How many days since sprout?

If you at at week 18 (126 days!) and still have clear trichomes (indicating need a few more weeks), there is some type of problem. I presume you'll need to provide more info. and pictures if you want help diagnosing this problem. Others more knowledgeable about this issue will hopefully advise you. Otherwise hope that very soon the trichomes turn cloudy, which is overall more important than trying to attain the ideal cloudy plus X% brownish trichomes.

Otherwise, what's wrong with foxtails (other than there is bias against it, perhaps because it can be unsightly), here a 2nd burst of bud growth? Foxtails look to be just as dense with sepals and trichomes as 'normal' buds, maybe even are more potent/weight since they tend to be more airy/fluffy, exposing a lot more surface area to light. To me, foxtailed buds seem to be just as potent (but as I noted, can be ugly compared to pretty buds).

Hi bud, valid point there about fox tailing, being a newb I didn’t do much homework on this, surely you would think oooo look more bud, that’s a good thing, but from my little understanding, it’s a negative process for the plant, which means something isn’t right. i.e environment, feed, stress ect. Anyfeed back on this would be appreciated.cheers

With autos some strains wont sufficiently cloud/amber up until they are in jars from what Ive seen. Others will. Its most likely not anything youre doing wrong.

:baked:

Depends on why the plant is foxtailing and when.. Could be genetic or stress from light intensity or something like that. If its in late flower I wouldnt care. If a plant started foxtailing really badly in early flower ide probably be a little more annoyed by it but its not the end of the world.

edit: @BallsackSal any backstory on your name Sal? haha
