New Grower Trichomes and Autos

Where is Robert C. Clark when you need him? This discussion cries out for a botanist to look at autos the way he did photos. I've probably ready Marijuana Botany at least 8 or 10 times and still learn more with every reading.

Muddy, I don't mean to put you on the spot but are you suggesting that one ignores the seed developers information regarding maturation time? I'm close to chop time and my particular choice is supposed to finish in sixty days. That's four or five days out. Right now, I still have some white pistils scattered throughout and the sun leaves are not yet yellowed. Would you hold out?

The breeder dates only give you an idea. Their times are based on a perfect grow. You can effect the finish time so easily through your grow, it's better to go by what the plant itself is telling you!

This auto had ambers, wiz freshly scoped her the other day. :booya:

Yep, that's exactly what I'm saying. I've yet to see an auto that was ready, or at least ready enough for me, in the advertised time. Even within a given strain the times will vary. I've got 3 Mi5s that are now at 11 1/2 weeks. Two will probably be ready in another week but the third one probably needs another two. If I had picked them at the 9-10 weeks advertised I still would have had some clear trics and would have missed out on some yield as their buds are still swelling. Keep in mind that fan leaves yellow and die as the plant uses up the energy stored in them. If they are still green that means there is still energy, and growth, that the plant can process.

muddy just wondering if you got long times when you were using your hps? i read alot of ppl using led on any plant have longertime till harvest, the reason being ids the led keeps the plants younger longer lol ,seen grows where the hps was finishing like a month earlier but the led was greener and a slight more yeild. just wondering if leds keep autos so green for so long that the tricks wont start to die, and the hps does go amber sooner due to the light more intense? just wondering if its the led not letting your trichs turn all the way and if thats why your grows are so long?:bong:

I haven't seen any difference in time between LEDs and HPS. The picture I've been using to show when I harvest is an AA that was grown under a 400 watt HPS. It went 12 weeks and had no amber on it.

wow like i said b4 ive read alot where some strains just dont turn, i know when i say this ill get alot of slack but in alot of interveiws with urban growers i think also the mail bags lol he said sum dont turn amber at all same with the hairs turning some turn color way to fast and some dont even turn that much. maybe you just keep your plants so healthy theyjust dont want to die lol :bong:

For me, the buds just seem to keep growing and growing like they have nothing better to do.

LMFAO! I agree completely(what up my gnomie?) Originally I kept some coloring books and interesting reading materials down in my growroom, ya know, in case my ladies got bored, try to introduce a little culture or whatever but I quickly realized that they were just getting distracted. Its far better to keep em bored. If you give em something better to do then then they'll do it.

Let em go for a while and they'll fatten up, and don't be ashamed about it either, when it comes to pot plants, we all love fat girls.

Thanks Wiz, don't mind at all. I see some amber in everything I grow. Also I don't see a difference in growing under LED and T5 had some ready sooner and later on both.
