Hey all, I didn't really know where to put this but my trichomes are 100% cloudy and I'm only on my 3rd day of flushing. Should I keep flushing and pull it in 3-4 days. Or pull it now? I heard that autos don't really go amber...also my 1st and 2nd set of fan leaves have gone yellow.

I would continue flushing. I like to wait till all the fan leaves are gone and the bud leaves are turning yellow.

If I wait that long muddy is it possible that my trichs will be overdone? And I'll lose potency?

I've had a few Kush strains thet never ambered up.......so I can confirm that some Autos don't go Amber. It's probably a specific pheno in the genetics.

I had one strain that I wanted to grow some late balls to get some pollen so I ran it out to over 120-130 days +/-. Never went amber and just died with all milky white trics.

Never once had a photo do that; ever.

@ frequent - Listen to Wiz - take a sample and see if you like the effects. Go from there.

some strains just dont turn amber, besides you dont really want to see alot of amber trichs anyways amber means they are starting to die off, but most growers wait to see if all are milky white and not clear, clear is too young and underdeveloped. ok so heres the way i look at it on the trich color thing:
clear -to young
cloudy or milky,- testing for harvest
amber- to old wont get any bigger will probably break off
now the time that they turn from clear to amber is determined by that PLANT and it could be from 1 week to 12weeks on those long sativas but its all on the plant now you can get a better idea from the growers and breeders of that strain but again all plants are different on how long they live. so the best advice i can give is to find out the breeders info and go from there when you star to see all your trichs turn to cloudy or milky then start testing and if you like it then there you go if not let them grow longer but if you see alot turning amber more then 50 percent then you better harvest before they all turn amber and loose their potency. hope this helps but again this is just my :2cents: :bong:

This is where I would Think too..

Obviously we have heard..I haven't scoped them all...:D..so I can't say for definite..
But..
the concensus is that some Photos don't amber..so it makes sense to me that some Autos won't amber..

besides you dont really want to see alot of amber trichs anyways amber means
they are starting to die off

According to Maj Botany..ambers are the more psychoactive trics..

Also..ambers Appear to be Better for med patients with chronic conditions..:wiz:

Can I also throw another couple of things into the pot of this great discussion..?

We are Experimenting behind the scenes with a Different lighting schedule
for Autos..
One of the things picked up by FD was..cutting his lighting..reduced the density of his buds..
But..also brought the ambering in faster..earlier..

I only ever get 14.75 hours natural light at the peek of my season..so maybe that is why I get so many ambers..
or..
it could be an Affy trait..that I am reinforcing..

Work ongoing..but enough to Pique the interest..
especially to med patients who Need them..

The other thing...anyone with scopes...I didn't Think about this until we were talking in Mods yesterday...
But..
on My scope..if I scope a bud with lots of Daylight in the room..I get a Glass photo..
white on white..

to get the calyx colour..and Ambers..I do the shot in a dark-room with only the Scope overhead light on..

Not sure if this works for anyone elses scopes..

But I would Love to see a few people Test the Theory..:wiz:

Sorry, I missed this yesterday. No, they won't get overdone and you won't loose potency unless you left them till they were just about dead. Here's a picture of what the plants look like when I harvest them.

If I remember correctly, the plant was 12 weeks and the trics were all cloudy.

I don't know about the trichs, but I do know that if you let them go past the recommended schedule, you'll be very happy you did. For me, the buds just seem to keep growing and growing like they have nothing better to do.

Edit: And to echo the above, I hardly get amber trichs, either. Cloudy, yes. Look like sugar.

Where is Robert C. Clark when you need him? This discussion cries out for a botanist to look at autos the way he did photos. I've probably ready Marijuana Botany at least 8 or 10 times and still learn more with every reading.
