Topping and final plant height?

Is this common with topping and not LSTing?
Well you are going to slow down vertical growth and depending on timing it might greatly affect it as you have seen.
I prefer to Super crop my autos I feel like there is less recovery time for the plants and with autos the window is so short for vegetative growth.

Hello @Badfinger some plants dont mind being toped others go to shit when you top them like potDaddy says super crop is another way evrybody has there own way of doing it as no two plants are the same or no two environment are the same or feed plans or lights that why you get so many diffrent results I top most of my plants and lst them i dont count the days i wait till i see the 5 node then top simple as that for me i have never counted the days as each plant is diffrent. I think your plant had a few other issues that's why it went pair shape as toping is pretty safe it just takes a few plants then you will get in your grove :smoking:

I'm in 7 gallon pots. Dam things are so small I feel like I lost 3 months of my life. I topped them on day 20, chopped the 5th node. I would be shocked if I get one oz. per plant.

Hello may i ask why such a big pot for a auto is it organic you doing or bottled nutes you doing :smoking:

Do you have a journal of your last grow. I have been topping and each time it gets better. It's important that they are healthy before you top.

If you checkout the pic earlier in this thread you can see I clipped the 5th node. I also realize nothing is in stone and the 18-21 days is round about number.

Here’s a botched topping. I topped her at 17 days and she basically stopped growing.

This plant is 17-18 inches tall. She’s grown 12 inches since I topped her day 24. Doesn’t sound like much but I’m in 1 gallon pots. She grew 5 inches in the 5 days after I topped her. Didn’t miss a beat. Here’s what I look for when I top. I wait until there is 7-8 nodes and she’s shown sex. Can even be starting to throw more pistils. But I top down to the 5th or 6th as long as the 2 tops left behind are actual branches and not nubs.

Funny story, the way I figured this out is I was bending over the top to tie it down and the top 2 nodes snapped off. She was pretty well covered in pistils at this point (don’t recommend waiting that long). I was like oh man another runty plant. But after a few days she had grown a few inches. And it’s repeatable. I’ve been topping like this and seeing the same result regardless of strain/genetics. As long as you do it right before they start to stretch I think it will work.
Very nice.

Yes, it started as an organic grow. Bad things happened and I switched back to bottled nutes to try and save my grow. I do believe the bottled nutes saved my grow, but bud size has most likely suffered. I just needed to be sure it was my mistakes and not the topping that caused the small buds. Ya just never expect your 2nd grow to go worse then your 1st.
