I usualy top every 3rd buth i want ur opinion what you ppl think?
I would prefer a bushy then tall one

Don't know, at first I didn't want to believe that topping is as bad for autos as most people say, as I couldn't think of any reason why, except for the shorter growth period. I never saw a proper, accurate side-by-side grow. I think it really depends on the strain. I might try topping again with Sativa autos ( makes most sense with them anyway ), but I won't do it again with quick Indicas.

Does topping really affect single cola phenos/strains?

From my experience, the shorter the pot, the shorter the plant...for instance every single smart/cloth pot I use grows a noticeably shorter plant than the same gallon-sized plastic pot that is thinner, but several inches taller. But obviously that doesn't mean that they are more "bushy."

Unfortunately, for me, because I don't LST and have limited space, this also means a smaller yield...but a much more manageable plant. (I grow in small 1.75-2 gallon pots, organic soil/methods).

Plants grown in my 1.75 gal, 6'" or so plastic pots, almost always get to 2 ft or higher, now that I've gotten much better at growing and understanding soil/nutrient science. A simple plastic tie pulling it down and to the side (the main stalk) results in bigger, lower positioned buds...but I have to stick with Ryder varieties due to their short height.

Topping Fimming and super cropping are high stress techniques that can improve yield in photos. Stress generally stunts autos so low stress techniques are preferred (lst).

I have two Northern Lights auto from femaleseeds right now left outside. One is once topped, one is not. They are in the same pot and quite uniform ( but not absolutely ) , but one of them was sowed two Weeks later. I can post the comparison as soon as both are done. But one thing sucks for sure, the new two tops are so closely squished together, that I reallly have to watch out for mold :(.

It's typically advised to not top an autoflower, but..

If you're going to try and crop or use any high stress techniques on an auto - get familiar with the strain first. See how sensitive it is to different things, don't do it on the first go. I'm a firm believer that you learn how a plant responds to basic environment changes before forcing it to stress.
As well, keep in mind if you're going to stress a plant with those kind of techniques, especially an auto, the rest of your set-up has to be ON POINT and dialed in. It's not advised to top an already stressed plant (nutrient deficiencies, nutrient burn, funky temperatures, etc etc).
What strain are you trying to top?

So your topped plant is now the same size as the non-topped plant, that was sowed/planted two weeks later? (just want to understand)

Sorry my comment went on about pot size and ultimately had nothing to do with increasing width vs height and cropping.

My answer was just directed to the "one top plant"-thing :). As their NL is just the perfect example for this.
Yeah the topped one got stunted hard, so the younger one could catch up. They are almost exactly the same size, but the dev. stage of the buds is different. i.e the younger plant is just starting.

Anyway, I really liked your potsize comment. I've been dreaming about going up, instead of to the sides in terms of container size. Long Bamboo with a big diameter filled with coco would make a great container...

:tiphat:

FIMed my photo barneyfarm L.S.D hehe looks like i get 4 main coalas instead of 2 like from regular toping and 1 like none toping.
I gues autos are a completly difrent due to the aspect of you cant force veg em longer like you may need after stressing it?
