Your not feeding the plant, the sugars are feeding the microbes in the medium which in turn then helps with nutrient up take. Also feeding and encouraging the microbes to thrive will also improve terps and flavors... the list is long.

Hey Slater , so i should keep up with the mollasses ? im adding 1tsp of blackstrap per litre water and giving to all of the plants now they are showing flowers
Its not going to hurt, so keep going... now I can't comment on how much and when to use because I don't and haven't used molasses in that form (I've used raw honey before at about tps a ltr towards the end of the grow to see if it help with flavour). The surges I use are included in one of my additives from my nutrient range so I follow there recommend dose.
For more info on how to use it (and the science) I recommend you go watch a youtube grower called NV Closet Grower, or go to his web site. Gold mine in info and a big user on the molasses

when i went to Jamaica about 25 years ago i asked a grower about sugar.....he showed me a bud and said that it makes the chrystal. Well, i know thats not true and i think he used it out of tradition more than anything else. Various natural additives are beneficial in horticulture but you dont see people adding eggshells to their soil nearly as often as you hear about someone who has bought a molasses product specific to weed.
Im not sorry to say it but i thnik those people are getting ripped off........my opinion.
