So basically if I mix the following I will have a good start? Or will I?
- vermicompost
- bat guano
- granulated animal shit (can't really remember how they name it in the store), there's even a mix of pig/chicken/bull shit lol
In the first place, always leave pig crap alone.

To answer your question... it will not be a well balanced mix, based on what little detailed information is available about bio-terra-plus. I say this because there would be no need for them to sell you supplemental nutrition to add through the grow if the mix was already complete. I see nothing in your mix for phosphates, potash, calcium, magnesium, just to mention a few essentials that stick out to me.

We get the same results we see others get by doing what they do. We learn through trial and error when we change what successful growers are doing. I do not have one, single, original aspect in my growing practices. I saw some plants DIRT grew. This stuff was so foreign to me back then, that I took one look at the recipe and just walked away. L showed up and started showing similar results, I got to know him a little bit and realized I had over-complicated things in my mind. We didn't have an organics forum back then. I made a batch 2 years ago, the only batch I have had to make through about 6 grows, and have never looked back... no deficiencies, burns, lock-out, nothing. The only thing I have done with my mix since then is add some new amendments after a couple grows, and invigorate it with guano teas. During the grow, I guarantee you I put in far less effort that most growers put in because of the preparation of the mix.

As I have said many times, if you want to experiment, tweak, substitute... whatever... have at it! It's your time, your effort, your results... But, you should not expect to have similar results to what TLO growers get if you do it a different way. :peace:

If you want simple start with a organic soil with stuff in it already then add to it as you use it..I keep 2 totes of soil one for adding stuff new i get and let it cook ..i add new stuff every 45 days and old soil from previous grows. And one ready to go .I just refill the ready to go tote every 45 days too.:2cents:I got to see the difference in my soil compared to premade soil and its just better and for autos a balanced soil thats not HOT is:key:So mnay peeps get slow growth from hot soil. But most of the time you just jump in and find the info you need a problems pop up they your like OHHHH lol DUUU lol OOPS lol:vibe:

Hey TesterX I really appreciate the great info. Could I use only Bio Tone starter plus for a grow? Should it cook, for how long?

It does have a lot of good stuff in it. A 4lb bag is going to be a pretty small bag. I am not familiar with this stuff so I would just follow the directions on the bag. I use espoma plantone if I have a lot of raw material I need to compost, just as a composting aid, but I'm not familiar with bio tone, so I would just follow the directions.

To be clear, TLO is TLO... If you want TLO, you have to do what it takes to make TLO. Using anything other than one of the proven recipes (and there is more than one option) is a substitute, and consequently a crap shoot.

You guys can keep asking me "will something besides what is recommended work?" and you're going to keep getting the same answer from me. "It's your harvest (or lack thereof), experiment all you want." :peace:

The Espoma company and their line of organic dry fertilizers and amendments are a quality product and widely available at a very reasonable cost.

It is best to use the amounts listed and include it when you mix your soil. If you have mixed your soil then top dress.

If you look closely at the Plant, Garden and Bio Tone line there is not a very discernible difference in the ingredients or level of ingredients. You are safe whichever one you pick up to use.

Feel confident that you have chosen a well rounded fertilizer and it is organic.

X i get what you were saying a few weeks ago about Organic TLO, i realy want to give it a go soon so i thinking of doing a mix not sure what one (proven one) Need to see what i can get in the u.k or by post, is there a standard cooking time for the microbes (Minions) to thrive? What sort of base do i start with to get going? :smokebuds:

Si, I like L's recipe because it starts out pretty basic and works really well without adding anything else. I have gradually added amendments as I learned.

Need to see what i can get in the u.k or by post
After you decide on a recipe (L's or otherwise) we can work through finding the amendments.

is there a standard cooking time for the microbes (Minions) to thrive?
I would never do less than 30 days.

What sort of base do i start with to get going?
My base consists of Organic base (peat, pro-mix, espoma), mushroom compost, and worm castings. When you get ready to go, we/I'll be more than happy to assist. :peace:
