Being a rookie doing his 1st grow, I'm already tired of dealing with Fungus Gnats.
My latest brain storm for my next grow is to use self-watering pots and apply a layer of sand on top of my soil.
Good or bad idea?
My goal is to curve my urge to over water and stop the little pests.

I will be switching over to autopots for my next grow and as far as the FG's , Diatonamous soil and a layer of clay balls is supposed to help.

got about 2 months research and they seem the easiest all around. going with a single and a foursome...3 in the tent and 2 in the closet...thinking the mid size pots.
I use 15 ltr bro i feel they are about the best size

thats the big un right? 6.9 gal. that would work better for a more organic soil / plain water grow
im not sure on that but i use the 12 gallons or 47 ltr res but i grow in coco @pop22 knows his way around them and may be able to advise you regarding soil

Good plan IMO, but use perlite instead. often bottom watered post will stay moist right to the surface and is the sand is wet it won't stop them. The perlite because of it's larger granules, will stay dry. Top with some DE ( Diatomaceous Earth ).
