Thinking of giving up

Hi there. You may want to try one of those "starter kits" that comes with a small propagator and everything else you need. I used one on my first grow and it worked really well. I fits in a drawer and it's just for a few days. At least you would be safe for germination.

I'm back. On advice of my fellow members I shelled out for more seeds knowing most (for me) won't make it.

Deja Vu: the very first bean planted this season has grown like a champ, harvesting any day now to begin drying. This was my experience leading up to my OP. Since then have planted 4 more in 2 months or so. None so much as poked thru the soil.

I'd get if methods varied but, based on first success, I stuck to the program hoping maybe 50% would have similar results. But it's been 0 for 4 since the 1st took off. Still have more seeds but I want to pause and ask the collective how I can do better instead of blowing mindlessly thru the rest of my supply.

I float seeds in distilled water with a splash of hydrogen peroxide. Every time the seed has grown a radicle (root) so they aren't dud seeds.

Plant knuckle deep in soil, watered with rain water, frequently enough for the summer heat but not intentionally to excess. So if it worked for the first, why have the next four sprouted only to die immediately after.

It's not like I babied #1, I even potted it up though some say that's wrong to transplant.

Hoping to grow 1 more before the weather turns cold. I like to keep it simple, minimal to no nutes, no Coco coir or special potting mix etc. I don't have access and if one plant thrives why can't another. This is a side project, not my life. It's a fucking plant let's not forget. If work keeps me from my family then fuck going balls out for something that doesn't share my DNA.

Out.

Last few years 0 dead seeds/plants: 12h in plain water, then I usualy tap on the seed and if it sinks its going into the moist soil or rootriot cube. If not, Im waiting another 12h and redo, usualy they all sank before 24h mark. Never wait for the root in the water, imho its pointless and counterproductive. Some humiditydome or cover out of solocup, seethrough plastic bag or smth.. over the pot until the seedling is above the ground and then careful with the watering.... tbh Im not even covering them lately and still the same results.
Do you have some pics aprox.when they start dying on You? Or is it like pests and animals only that are killing them? When I was going guerilla I used piss, hair, dog hair etc = anti bigger animals, but you need to refresh them every like 3-4 days. Against birds use cage and if you have some old cds then hang few of them around and Youll be golden or good ol scarecrow works ... (Obviously cds and scarecrow are more for the garden grow then guerilla where both basicaly eliminate any stealth attempts)
Anyway good luck and dont give up. :bighug: :smokeout:

Hey there. In years past I have had birds kill small plants. This season it may have been damping off cuz after planting in moist soil nothing would poke thru to the soil. I think the germ method recommended to me, that I've been using, could be the problem. Gonna try Ganjaholickz method. Where I live it's always hot and humid and I have a pretty good guerilla setup, and an old grill grate to protect from pests until well established. Thanks!

Growing up my friends dad had a guerilla grow in his back yard, it was just a large open field no trees just dessert. He had a trench in the middle of the field around 5' deep 3' wide and 10' more or less long. It was dug from east to west so the sun would shine on the plants the trench had chicken wire over it to protect the pots from critters. I always thought what a genius idea because you couldnt see the trench or plants unless you was close to it. It was probably a hundred feet or so from the house and it just looked like open dessert through the window. i remember his dad telling me he needs to dig a new trench at a more north eastern angle to keep the plants from getting too much sun.

Ok I recommend you getting a “germination station” or similar. They have the dome and heat mat with the place to put the route right cubes.

I recommend using root riot type cubes and this set up. Since I started this using this a few years ago my germination rate is above 99% it’s the easiest thing in the world. The cubes come pre-moistened out of the pack so all you have to do is place As many of the root rake cubes in the holders as you have seeds put the dome on top and set it on the heat mat.

72 hours or less later you will have seeds poking above the cubes. Most will have a taproot coming out of the bottom.

I also believe that your issue was dampening off. So when you go to transplant the root riot cube into the dirt make sure the dirt is on the dry side. Then literally take a syringe that’s used for baby antibiotics To water them with. They do not need very much water at all at first. Start with 20 ml or so in a circle around the plant. Then wait two days and repeat with 30 ml. Once it gets 2 sets of nodes you can start watering the whole pot.

The best advice I can give is to start your seeds in a mini stealth pre guerrilla grow with rock wool or w/e your preference.( cube I find make eazy transport)
Then once at more manageable age pop them in a Tupperware container & transplant..
done many of those with backpacks full...

You sure someone hasn’t scoped your spot and just keeps swiping your stuff ?
