Indoor The Return of What's Goodie!!! (28 or so pics, more to follow!!!) Come see what AF's can WITHSTAND!

earlier this spring i purchased a 10 pack of onyx from singleseed. when they came i was waiting on some special test beans so i couldn't tie up my indoor spot. i had several patio planter with tomato sprouts so i thought ok maybe if they stay short i can move them close to the back patio doors and get away with a couple outdoor plants. the 2 seeds i planted sprouted in 3 days but never had more than a tiny green dot on top of a frail ,skinny stem. they both died within 3 days of breaking ground.the tomatos thrived by the way. anyway i was told "damping off was why they died" so maybe you have " Damping off problems" it can be treated with chamomile tea.

maybe the jiffy pots are allowing the moving air to wick water out of your soil and allow more air to pass into the soil and dry it out quicker. If you set the pots into another container, say a party cup or something cut out to shield the moving air from the pot It would retain moisture better and allow for a little water to stay in the bottom after each watering to be allowed to wick back into the pot and allowing for longer time between waterings and hopefully eliminate the over-drying problem.

I had the same problem one time.

IMG00543.jpgsee the net pot set into the outer pot? worked like a charm and allowed my roots still to have that airpot type effect.

Thanks gearbear! Makes sense. I read this after repotting my younglings, I figured it was the air passing through after awhile. I did away with the Jiffy's and repotted into solo cups... the little guys had AMAZING root systems. Like honestly filling up the entire jiffy cup at that size with thick hairy roots (haha). I hope they take the transplant well.

Also sadly while doing the transplants I noticed some little translucnet neon green flying bugs in my veg cab.. scared they may be aphids. I sprayed down the young ones with neem oil after transplanting.. hope it doesn't cause too much shock as to kill them.

I also moved one plant from my veg cab to my grow closet earlier without seeing these little bugs and now I'm worried I may have infested my last 2.5 months of grow.. I don't see anything in there but I'm also not 100% sure what to look for. I'm so paranoid right now though. I looked up aphids on wikipedia and other sites and they don't look like this little fucker. He was neon green, somewhat translucent, clear wings and big black eyes (for his body, they were big lol).. There was a total of 4 of them hopping around in there. 2 got stuck to the fly trapper, one I picked off the top of the soil and the last one I couldn't catch so I neem oiled the cab. I also neem oiled the plants I moved to the grow closet earlier today and did some inspecting but didn't find any bugs... The wind in the grow closet is amazing so even little pieces of perlite fly around in there and it's hard to tell if it's a bug LOL.

Wil post some pics of the repotting tomorrow.. Any advice on the bugs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!

On a positive note I finally got my first male plant that looks healthy, definitely a male. It's a BHD.

NP, hope they do better for ya now with a little moisture control
