Hey all,

I've been gone for a while. Was a little down and out on myself after screwing up so many plants. I'm a true testament to the fact that ANYONE can grow after what my plants have been through.

I've gone through 33 seeds to have 11 survive. These are the surviving 11 (and some newborn shots).

Setup:

Soil, (FFOF(50%) + BioTone StarterPlus(Myocharize) 4-4-4(10%) + Sphagmun Peat Moss(30%) + Dolomite Lime (5%) + Earthworm Casings (5%))

Lights: 400W & 600W Air cooled, side by side... 3.5x2x8 closet.
Nutes: FF Liquid line + Bushdoctor Liquid Line (Microbe Brew, Root Drench, Sledgehammer) and of course the almighty MOLASSES!

You can sell all the damage (mostly all from PH fuck ups) done to these plants and see they're still somewhat hardy. They have some minor nute burn now (I didn't realize that mid-late flowering the plants used the nitrogen in the leaves.. so I tried to rectify it.. ha ha ha ha...)

I've gone through it all, from Cal/Mag def (watering with distilled water and not using calmag.. lol..) to Heatstroke (wasn't aircooling my 400W+600W at first, temps went over 107.. lost 8 plants). These things have been stunted to hell and back.

Potassium def? Check
Nitrogen def? Check
Nute burn? Check
Cal/Mag def? Check
Heat Stroke? Check
Underwatering? Check
Overwatering? Check

With all that said... on to the shots, they're not the best - but they're a true representation of the school of hard knocks.

Onyx.jpgOnyx-Size.jpg

This is my Short Stuff Onyx, I love her. I really do. She's taken the biggest beating. Her sisters died to heat stroke. RIP. As did her Mi5 cousins.

Newborns.jpg
First one from the top is an Auto Widow from dope-seeds, Second one (on the middle left) is a Mi5, bottom one is a Mi5. They're about 2.5 weeks old. They were stunted due to heat stroke as well. (Portable AC in the room now that vents to the outside, GTFO HEAT STROKE. GTFO.)

vegcab.jpg

The current ghetto rigged veg/starter/supply chamber. 8 26W 6500k CFLs. Mix of plants in there, some auto widow, 2 mi5, 2 short ryder.. the bigger Jiffy pot is the auto widow (was stunted with the other ones, but I moved it back because it's starting to show a PH def of some sort and I can't figure it tf out.)

Any tips or anything would be appreciated, I think I can harvest some of these in the next few weeks but I'm not 100% sure. Their last nute feeding was 5/20/2011. They'll be getting watered with Sledgehammer + Big Bloom tomorrow then normal PH'd water from there out as I'm assuming they're close to harvest.

man that short stuff onyx really stands out...like a christmas tree.
shes got the build on her don't she?

Looking good man... loving the looks of those flower power girls, might have to give em a shot. I'm doin sum blue Him myself and she is starting to smell great!

Hell yeah. Imagine if she didn't take the beating. She'd be something else. I have a 60 Day Wonder I need to get some shots of too, because she seems 60 days behind (looks like it's stuck in the early stages of flowering???). I loved the Onyx so much I have 10 more regular seeds on the way from dope-seeds.com, which came with the 5 SnowRyders.. so I'll be popping more beans soon. I want to keep ~11-12 plants growing at all times in the chamber. I really want a male plant so I can get some of my own damn seeds though. Have 5 or so regular Mi5 beans left. 2 feminized AutoWidow too.. My future grows will be beautiful. I left the site because I was tired of letting myself down and not learning from my mistakes.

Just chalk it all up to experience.
You learned from it and each grow after this will be better.
Also realize that each time you start a new strain - it's almost like starting over as each has it's own set of quirks!
So don't be surprised when you run into the similar problems with deficiencies later on.
You're learning to read your plants and thats the important thing

Yeah. Experience is key here that's what I've told myself. I was honestly ready to give up the day my timer screwed up and I lost 12 plants to heat stroke. I also feed all of the plants the same nute regiment and I realize that's bad as they all have different needs. I've learned that marijuana truly is the female of the plant world and needs to be treated like a lady and all ladies like to be treated differently. They're also just as hard to read as women sometimes LOL.

Yeah they're some of the stinkier of the bunch. The Afrodite smell floral, no bud smell at all.. The Onyx has a real citrus type smell too.. really enjoyable. Flower Power smells kinda like... leather? No other way to describe it. LOL.

I've read your journal JEMman I saw you've gone through some difficulties as well and you're one of the inspirations that got me posting again. I've followed the site the whole time in my absence but I didn't want to post any more of my screw ups. I'll tell ya one thing, that PH meter is IMPORTANT so make sure to get a digital one ASAP! Also spend the extra 10 bucks on the calibration solution because leaving it in normal water is no where near as good as leaving it in calibration solution.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I do appreciate it!

Going to be much more active here now and look forward to becoming a resource of sorts so I can really contribute to the community. Feels good to be home!

i do love the shot stuff,and nice to see some kannabia as iv got some fem one here to grow,which be on me next grow,but i wont to get some shot suff to grow along with mine,but they still looking nice even on the PH fuck up ,like buddha man say it all down to experience,

Did you order these afrodite from dope-seeds.com as well! I gotta say it just feels good for me to not have to worry about smell at all. The Jems were a breeze in that category and would love to stick to good plants without the extreme kill bill smell!

Thanks alot man yea Im glad you're back on. Its good to watch the average guys on here that make the little mistakes here and there because it helps us newbies learn what to do if we see these same things. And yes I HAVE to get the meter ASAP. Im still in the process of finding a reliable one without having to spend $70 or more. These things can cost upward of $300 :no: Just dont have that kinda money to throw down right now. Will be following your grows man

Hey bro I'm glad to soo that your girls are holding on they sure are troopers they look pretty good!!!!!

Hmmm thats 2 ppl now having troubles with so called 60 day wonder that dont finish in 60 days. Sounds like DNA dont know much about autos if they cant get the strain to suit the name......

Some shots of the new seedlings...

Man... I'm already having issues with these new guys.

Here's some shots;

They're in;

30% Composted Forest Product
5% Dolomite Lime
30% Sphagmum PeatMoss
20% Composted Pine Tree Bark
15% Perlite
Jiffy Cups

Under
8x 26w 6500k CFLs

Watered with;

1st Spring 6.8 r/o 6.9
2nd Spring 6.3 r/o 6.7
3rd Spring 6.3 r/o 6.5
4th Spring 6.1 (w/ 1/4 recommended Big Bloom dosage) r/o 6.5
5th Spring 6.3 r/o 6.6
6th Tap w/ Chlorine removed 6.4 r/o 6.7
7th Tap w/ Chlorine removed 6.3 r/o 6.7
8th (last night) Spring 6.2 (w/ 1/2 cal-mag recommended dosage and 1/2 Big Bloom recommended dosage) r/o 6.6

Temps: Lights On 71-81 (lights on 24/0)

It's a premixed soil that I bought because I've heard it's nute free and pretty good to start seeds in.. I'm having some strange problems with my seeds already though..

The seedlings seem to have stopped growing, (growth has been the same for almost 5 days) and they're turning a bright greenish-yellow.. which I thought would be a N-def.. especially since the soil is nute free.

Now after watering last night with the cal-mag and big bloom i'm seeing some brighter yellowing around the leaf tips which I'm assuming is nute burn... was I wrong in nuting these little guys already?

Please halp!

Now the problems I've had;

The soil dries EXTREMELY fast (within 8hrs sometimes) and I've had times where the soil wasn't watered after being dry for ~6 hrs or so. The plants didn't wilt but I think it's what caused the stunting. After the last watering last night they've gone dry in ~8 hrs. I water until the cup is soaked and there's a puddle of run off (enough to test). I'm going to be repotting them into my soil mix here soon as this seed starter appears to have quite the fault. The ones with turned leaves are wind burned as they were the ones closest to the fan.

It's a 12" fan set on low to blow air through the cab.. but I think because they dried out 2-3 times that it caused the wind burn (correct me if I'm wrong please).

I'm thinking the stunting is from the drying out (it happened 2-3 times, 2 times for sure.. one time the soil was pretty close to 'dry').. but I don't understand the yellowing.

Any advice would be appreciated!

:lol:still laughing at original post. you got a great attitude , a glass half full man. i hope i'm as philosophical when it goes ass over tits for me:thumbs:
