There is allot of debate out there over what the best lighting actually is. Leds in general have a bad reputation from the overseas over night companies making cheap panels loaded with false claims. Cobs are leds but a completely different animal. I'll talk some more about that later. For now let's take a peek what they can do. That's a 15 gallon pot for reference. A height of around 68 inches from the floor and the width of the isle she is in is 46 inches across.

You can see little sister in the back. 2 hot mamas in a 4x6 without a spare inch of room.

2 plants in veg under 300 watts of cobs that I personally built. Not some cheap 98w super led a real 300w of cobs with a high efficiency. Exact numbers slip me but it's in the mid to upper 50% range. Assuming 55% efficiency that means the plants are actually seeing 165 watts. Again more on this later.

Nice they will be monsters!! About what would it cost to diy a replacement for a 400hps
It would be between 150-200 watts of cobs. You can DIY a 200w for around 300 with all the parts. The beauty of DIY is that you learn, as your room or tent or whatever changes you can take it apart and redo it or add to it to fit your new needs. You can also build things manufacturers don't necessarily make either. Like this bar I built from old mars hydro drivers and left over cobs. It's 7 feet long 120w and perfect for side lighting.
