Grow Mediums the pros and cons of autopots

But you seem to be hinting that I missed this benefit. Do you have anything to back that up at all? Id love to read it.

Nope - I've never tried AutoPots, or any hydroponics for that matter. My question stemmed merely from conjecture and claims of others I've read on the internet. I'm glad you replied so quickly, as I was preparing to order an AutoPot tomorrow as a means of growing significantly larger plants with little effort. I don't think I'll bother with it now. I don't mind growing in soil, but larger yields sounded appetizing.

I hand water my autopots after some bad luck with some skunky water in the reservoir. I am sold on the bottom feeding and have 14 autopot valves to fall back on of I go on vacation.

However, I can make a bottom handfed system for $5 and a visit to the dollar store.

Wouldn't an air stone in the res remedy that?

Yeah sorry but I'd have to disagree on most of your points. I've got 16 pots. 2 small res and 1 200l res. Been using just water and biotabs for nearly 18 months on a constant perpetual auto grow. 2 plants in and out my room every 2 weeks and other than 1 nozzle breaking while I was doing a clean I've had 0 issues.
I have 2 sets of pipe ready so I can just sesp out the tubing and give it a clean every 2 months but that's all I need to do...
I also have 8 plants going and recently upgraded to the Aquavalve 5 setup. I had some issues with the original and the guys at Autopot totally hooked me up with great prices etc... I now have extra pots that I plan to use and get a jump on my next round. The only issue that confounds me is that some plants are doing great and others further from the Res show signs of Nute deficiency so customizing the grow is difficult. I do have 4 different strains going so mb that's an issue to consider. Past that I love the system and have have 4 nice grows using it.

I would use caution putting an airstone in the reservoir. I was actually warned against it by the people awho... local shop... I also found out the hard way that putting an aquarium water circulating pump in there needs to be done with caution. I originally ran mine 24 7 and had major issues with crazy PH swings due to over agitating and had unwanted growth in my Rez. I now stir by hand once or twice A-day but I'm considering putting the power head back in the reservoir on a timer set to go off for 15 minutes every 3 or 4 hours.
