New Grower The Elvis catches a Dragon!!

Thank you Tobe!! I'm sick with the Flu .. so I do the crosses later. The males PP is only in natrial sun light from the window. I'm sure I've stressed him and he only has about 5 hairs on his main cola. He is putting out pollen like crazy! But I not going to use him.
The SD is 100% all male.
Is it the first time a PP plant started to herm? What generation are they?

there at F1 and Im sure if i had more than one PP male I would have one not showing hairs. selection is sooooo important when your breeding!!!! :pass:
But I'm OK with my legit SD male he is perfect for a cross!!!! plus I can take the 2013 reds to F4 and have more of those seeds !!!!:headbang: nobody has em anymore!!!

Hey King
Sounds like a plan, you are right selection is important.

I saw a picture in a other forum from a Brazilian pure sativa. There was a male that also is a hermi .

Using the q tip method I'm getting seed control. I'm hoping for about 50 seeds wile still having seedless flowers. In those pics I am putting SD male pollen on a SD female.
I need those F4 seeds!!! Just wait to you see those girls in late bloom!!!

That's very interesting to see and good to see this phenomenon documented.

I do it the same way with a q tip if I do test crosses.

Soooo if I were to try and self this hermie male who won't take it's own pollen. Will all his seeds be male?? I'm just stuck on the science of it now. :pass:
I'm not gonna cross him but I'm just wondering what he is up to.. @FullDuplex any input?? :passit:

Let me take a look back and see, just from reading this and the word hermi make me think STOP.

Tell me a little more about what happened and how. I'm sure I can read back but if I get an over view I may be able to give better advice.

I will say this, any reversal due to environmental stress is a bad bad thing. If it started female and then grew balls or started male and threw hairs you've got a weak point in the genetics.

One of the things I always do is stress my selected males. I use three to four steps to do so. If it makes it through all the tests it stays. If one of them cause a reversal it's out of the program.

If the plant in question started as a male and then developed hair, and you self it your gonna get shit results. Your locking in the stressor to the plants and will compound your insult to injury producing seeds that are going to have a bad gene pool.

Only thing I suggest is the tried and true methods of CS and STS.

You may have seed control but your going to find seed all over her if you don't isolate the rest of the plant. You can't see all that pollen and as soon as you flick that qtip it's air borne.
