Ok ok I know I updated my pics yesterday but had to post the difference a day makes! :smoking:

I am a little too stoned to google search so can someone share with me appropriate height for COB over plants! Maybe veg & flower heights! Plus this may be should be considered seedling since day 15 in case they need diff height!:thanks: very much!

Hey, i heard an interview with black dog that said for autos, only look at veg height/coverage. The only reason we increase light intensity (by making the lights closer) is to offset the time switch to 12/12. Sonce we dont do the 30%loss of time, we dont need to increase the intensity by 30% like photo growers do.
Just throwing it out there from a lighting manufacturer. Its changed how i think about lighting.

Always consider the source, lol.. I mean, there are several reasons to increase/decrease light/coverage in both veg and flower.. Canopy penetration, temps, ppfd, ect. Many growers keep their light/cob as close as possible to reduce stretch in veg.. Some keep it as far away as possible to encourage stretch during veg.. In all my years, I've never heard this "loss of time" concept. I'm having a hard time making it make sense in my head, lol. Photo period plants don't "lose" anything when switched to 12/12. They are gaining the minimum amount of dark hours needed to flower, not losing 6 hours of light.. Sounds like something a sales guy would say about a light that doesn't have proper coverage for flower.

@TxRebel or Mark, it depends on the total watts and the Kelvin (3500k, 5k ect) but without tools to test the ppfd, most will say 12-24 inches is the sweet spot.

maybe my pm is not working @Ozzie Greenthumb ................there was a time i could send a group pm to 4 people and only 1 would reply.......apparently a known issue. 3 peeps never got my mails
it was the fastbuds battle you wanted to enter i think.you have seeds allready so entered as self seeded.
you are elligeble for the poll, and everyone entered can win.
i dont know exactly what countries fastbuds post to :shrug:so what i tell everyone is......as the prize is sent (in this case fastbuds) not me :baked:if fastbuds post to the country you live in,you will get a prize.
use a threadmark as a bookmark Mossy and il look at them :pass:
:pighug:
No, I have bomb seeds. Just nevermind. I will hopefully catch one with a few free seeds

Thanks it’s actually 150w and 3500k! ‘Was the autocob from festivus prize pool! Got it 24” now cuz wasn’t sure and only 15days today so didn’t wanna roast em! Prob don’t want em stretched in solo cups tho!:thanks:

Respectfully, I very much see where youre coming from. I prolly did a bad job putting the full point to words. Let me try again... But know i agree with your points in your reply.

The arguement for only focussing ONLY on veg height/coverage is based on the concept of Daily Lighting Integral (dli). The plant needs 10000 to 12000 ppfd of light per day. (This is strain dependent and they can live in more or less, but for generalizations for lighting itll work) In veg, we have the lights set higher. Lets say 600ish ppfd for 18 hours. (10800 ppfd/day) As auto growers, this would stay the same for us through flower.
Now when a photo period grower flowers their plant, They cut 30% of the light hours (18 hours to 12 hours). In order for the plant to continue recieving the same DLI in the shorter hours, we increase the intensity to around 900-1000 ppfd. (10800-12000 ppfd/day)
But we have autos under 18 hrs of light for the full grow. So theres no need to increase the intensity by lowering the light.

Please pm me if i need to clarify further.

That being said, i agree that we can choose to increase / decrease intensity to achieve certain growth patterns. I do it personally. But for the basic question of how high to hang an unknown light... Id say get it close to 600 ppfd and play from there.

Um. Anyone else in the fb solo cup grow have preflower already? I just realized both of mine are in it already. Kinda early.

picz or it ain't happenin :coffee: ppp
