I recently quit smoking and got addicted to vaping instead [emoji23] I had heard about THC vape juice and its lack of smell when smoked and discreetness, so I thought I would give it a go. A lot of recipes out there but they seem to conflict with each other to a degree, I have tried to go with what makes sense. I'm in UK so no buying this stuff over the counter.

I'm sure James Martin didn't have this in mind for his coffee/spice mill. I picked this one because it comes apart easily and can be cleaned. I put two lots of 3.5 grams in this little beauty for 1 second. The weed came out like course flour. The first one I did for a few seconds and it was like regular flour so did less time. It probably could have handled 7 grams easily but glad I did it in two lots.

Spread out on foil and ready for the oven to convert the THCA into THC. I followed this chaps advice on how to achieve this in the article below. I have a gas oven that is pretty shit on temperatures so got myself a thermometer. As it says in the article dry out the weed first then raise temperature. In reality, without a laboratory and special kit, this is quite difficult. I found that gas mark 1/2 is between 250f and 300f, which is too hot, so I cracked the oven door and it held perfectly at 250f. I put the tray in the oven with the oven off and let it warm slowly for 20 minutes which I'm hoping evaporated the last of the water out of my plant per the article below, heat at 200F for 20 mins. Then an hour at 250f.

Man does it stink but it smells like a dry herb vape so not too bad but fired up some incense just in case.

Lidl and their delicious jams provided my containers for the next step. I'm using alcohol to remove all the goodness, finding this shit in UK is a bitch but grabbed these for the first run. Plus a decent measuring beaker from a local cooking shop.

In the jar it goes. I went with 100ml of alcohol approximately 3.5 fluid ounces. This incidentally covered the herb by about 1/4" or 6mm +/- . I chose alcohol because it extracts the goodness the best, apparently, but according to my reading you can just use vegetable glycerin (VG) instead but it doesn't soak up as much of the goodness. If you don't like or can't take alcohol then this would be a good alternative. Here's a picture of the VG you can buy just about anywhere in UK.

So the jar got some vigorous shaking and I could see the sludge appearing before my eyes. I have read that this needs to be stored in a freezer, in a cupboard, used right away, stored for a month, shaken, once a day, twice a day, every hour and left to sit. I have read you do this for an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year. I believe if I was doing this with VG I would do in a freezer for a week and cupboard for three weeks.
I am going with, in a freezer and shaken once a day for a week.

VG just don't pull enough from the herb and is just not potent enough. Also, it separates and clogs the vape.

Alcohol is best but for vaping, i don't think food grade alcohol is absolutely necessary but if cash/availability is not an issue, grain alcohol is of course best.

You really don't need to soak them for so long. Stir and mix for a few mins and soak for about 10 mins is plenty. Second wash is necessary and third only if you don't mind evaporating more solvent later cos it won't have much left. I personally do 3 washes and then filter. I then use a pot over an induction cooker to evaporate the alcohol. Last step is to finish up in oven as final decarb until no carbon bubbles is present.

Now u have pure extract that is fully decarbed. For smoking, decarb is not necessary but I do it anyways cos i may decide to use for cooking. Use it on a wax vape pen or Vaporizer. The e liquid route is too much of a hassle. I gave up on it

Thanks for info, might just settle on the one day.
It is almost impossible to get 95 proof in uk. I bought a 100ml bottle for $20 (ouch) Then I found food grade grain alcohol $20 for 1 litre so that's why I got it coming in.
I read to mix alcohol tincture with 3 parts VG for vape so was going to try that. I'm also going to reduce some down.
It's all a bit of an experiment at the moment.
