Its getting warm again. Here on the east coast we get some warm summers with temps hovering 80-100 degrees. window units just aren't cutting it for me. My new room I made an opening in the wall to hold my 12k window Ac but I think it having problems. Running for a minute or 2 and shutting off again. Leaving temps in the high 80's Since summers are short and I just dump air in colder months I wondered if a mini-split was worth the investment.

Found a Mr Cool 18k btu 1.5 ton unit with pre charged lines and all the bells and whistles for 1200 shipped. Installation seems to be a cinch and no pro hvac techs needed.

My room is equipped with the most efficient and coolest running cobs sold. My heat issue is from my dehumidifier. It's newer but screams almost nonstop. if I shut it down temps drop to the 70's but humidity runs upwards of 85% within an hour. My Ac pours out water too so I blame the amount of plants inside the room. Anyone dealing with the same or have minisplit advice?

I'm kind of lucky in that I have the opposite problem....low humidity. When hot, I use a portable swamp cooler and that takes care of any heat problems I am faced with. 30 minutes on, 1 hour off. If real hot, 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off. Though the increase in humidy is temporary, it's nice to be able to raise it under those type conditions.

What's your plant count? I'm really trying to figure out if I just have a problem I guess. I have a friend who has super low humidity and he lives close enough. Only thing I could think was maybe his smaller op equals less humidity, less plants less

Wow you are verrrry lucky. I have a close friend who runs just a portable too and that's enough to take care of the humidity in his whole op. His plant count is lower so there is less transpiration. How many plants are you running Autowonders?

My room is 10x20. Lights are all super high efficient cobs. 3-450 watt panels. 2 lec's, 1 Cree light bar, 2 knockoff bars and another 4 cob light I built.

I have 13 massive autos, ranging in size a little but all over 4 oz each some closer to 8 oz when chopped and dried. I started my new crop to soon and had to sell off some plants for space but have 9 left around day 50. Biggest autos I have seen, 5-6 feet tall. So square footage is mainly plants.

I did the calculations in sizing a mini-split and came up with 12k btu so I was considering an 18k to be safe. Per-charged is a little more money and has a little lower seer rating but not having to call someone is worth it to me. 1200 for a mini or 500 for a new window unit. I'd hold off but my window one is acting like it has a refrigerant leak. On and off every couple minutes and no real relief

I am currently running three plants. Two 5 gallon, one 3 gallon. Changing to one 5 gallon, two 3 gallon next run.
