Tent Questions

Hi all...I didn't see anything specific on tent set ups and so forth...

So I'm going to sticky this thread for any questions and answers that you members with tents, can answer...

Also, if you have any pics of how your tent is set up, please post them...Pictures say a 1000 words...
Basically, as far as pics go, mostly looking for how yours is set up...Not so much about the plants...

Thanks for your cooperation and I hope this thread gets the attention that new tent buyers, like myself, can gain some info...:peace:

Thanks for starting this thread ripster, just found it & read it all. Nice input from the family too, made for an informative read. :smoke:

Realized a Tent is not enough, yes it covers the odor. But it is sealing soo much humidity in it needs airing a couple times a day and THEN the odor hits someones nose who holds all power.. she should be a sniffer dog..

My Tent is 90 x 60 x 90cm with 2x 7" LEDs

Can I fit:

and will it be enough for my size Tent?

Will the Fan and Carbon Filter sit inside or outside the tent?

Thank you for any help people:peace:

Will the Fan and Carbon Filter sit inside or outside the tent?

Ideally you'd want your fan and filter inside your tent, it keeps things neat and tidy. your tent should have a bar at the top where you can hang these.
The normal setup is you suck the hot air through the filter and then no the other side of the fan attach some ducting so the hot air is leaving your tent (and ideally your room if possible)

as for the fan and filter setup, i'd probably go for the 6 inch fan. It's got way more oomph and only 1 decibel more noise.

VapedAs, is humidity a problem in your tent? You should have enough air exchanges that it's not turning into a sauna in there (which would indicate your intake/exhaust fans might not be quite up to snuff.)

Your scrubber should be inside the tent; that's the most effective placement for it. You will see some people put them outside, some people blow into them, so people build boxes for them, etc etc, but sitting right inside your grow room is by far the most effective.

The inline fan draws air into the chamber of the carbon scrubber by blowing air out of it. Drawing air in is better than blowing air in because it doesn't produce as much turbulence inside, which in turns allows for greater control of the airflow through your ductwork. Why should you care about turbulence? The airflow created by the fan on the scrubber is already fairly turbulent due to how the fan blades are in motion and by design of the fan blades. Turbulence is the swirling of air (as in vortices.) Vortices occur on the length of the fan blade and at the blade tip as the blade moves through the air. As the speed increases on the fan, there is more turbulence created and the sound levels increase as the vortices increase.

Blowing air causes more turbulence than sucking air does, and depending on where your fan is in relation to the scrubber; that turbulence can greatly diminish the CFM capability of the fan.

Sucking air through the filter also offers more advantages. By sucking air through the filter, you are creating a negative air pressure space inside the carbon scrubber. Negative air pressure is good because it keeps those odor molecules from escaping the scrubber once they are in there. The extra benefit is, depending on the size of your grow tent/space; you can possibly achieve negative air pressure inside the growing space; which on a tent would cause the inside walls to suck in slightly. This is a good thing. This means you are sucking more air through your scrubber than you are actually pushing (from your inline intake fans) into the tent. This causes not only those odor molecules to more effectively stay trapped inside your tent (as in, less likely to leak out through zipper holes, pin holes, passive air intakes, etc, but also gives the scrubber more time to suck them up for filtration.

THANK YOU BOTH Blue and Vaporhaizer!! That was super fast

That was some excellent information and have Rep Slapped you both hard.:tiphat:

To pick your brains a little more..

@Blue - I use my tents 4" hole for electrical cords and closed off 6" hole atm so can fit the Ducting for out flow. Love the increase in CFMs from 4" to 6" also!
I DO have a spare support bar going length ways so I could hang carbon left side, then fan, then theres the sleeves for the holes for cords and ducting. 6" is 35cm wide at brackets base.
Is 52db loud? I can't stand high pitched or low tones, yet I have a few thousand Watts of sounds system in car:WTF:

@Vaporhaizer - I like your explaination of the negative forces and their effects! Just what I made need some of as stated above to Blue, I only have 2 holes in the Tent neither of which would be or is used as intake :(
Yes, Humidity is a big problem at the moment as it's stale air and hot in there and I live in the Tropics where my Humidity reads 94%... yay
With choosing Blues pick(the 6") do you think I would have enough negative draw to just open one of the mesh screen side windows as "passive" intake?
I can do that during the day as leaking light will be okay and and night would unhooking Ducting from Fan inside Tent for night time and just let it recycle?

I leave lights on 24/7

Sorry all the questions.
Thanks LOADS! Trying to get sorted to make the order for tomorrow so I can keep this run going good:grat:

Thanks very much for the rep buddy ^_^

Sounds like this will be ideal! 52db with ducting attached should only make a low whoosh sound in the room. Mine is a little louder i think at about 60db on full whack, My bathroom fan is louder and i can't hear my cab outside the room, but it is noticeable inside the room.

If noise is any concern check out duct mufflers. I have 1 that quiets 2 fans could not imagine not having it. Having it means mississ and I can talk at normal levels. Also good time to add a variable speed controller. Lets you have some control of temps. And when you think you are done you will need or want something else.

:peace:

I've got a Secrete JardenII DR120 and its awesome :)

Is that a 600W duel spec I see ? Got one myself and they are wicked little producers. Like a mini sun :)
