My first couple of grows have been in a rather long closet that has the 8’1” ceiling height of the rest of my house. The end that I grow in is 2.5 x2.5. The tallest plant that I have grown was the recent solo grow of a fast Barry which got up to around 30 inches even with topping. I’m growing under a 130 W Rspec QB. Last time I grew two plants to about 19 inches this time the one big one, so that tells me that ideally this light is best suited for one rather large plant. So my idea for a two plant tent is to buy a second QB of this type, and go with either a 2 x 4 or a 2.5 x 5. I might go with more watts with the 2.5 x 5, say 330-390 instead of 265. My question is what height would I need because I plan to grow some sativa dominant autos and in the case Of some, like FB Tangiematic, you hear suggestions to just let them grow up without topping. That says that the plant could maybe get to 4 feet which if you include the pot means you have a 5 foot plant. The tents that I’m looking at seem to come in right around that 79-83 inch mark at their base configuration. The gorilla tents give you the option of a 1 foot extension which would raise their standard tent to 95 inches in their Lite model to 91. The problem with the regular one is that that gives me 2 inches of clearance between the top of the tent in my ceiling, so how do you even assemble that thing? LOL. With the light, I would have 6 inches of headroom so I could probably put that last extension on in place, but it would still be pretty tight. So the question is do I really need to be any taller than say 83 inches? In my Current set up, the distance from the hanging bar to the bottom of my light is 12 inches, so I figure that’s what I need in the top of a tent more or less. I estimate that no matter what kind of container I use I’m going to need a foot from the floor to the top of the soil. After I do all of my silly math I typically come up with a figure of around 42 inches for plant height above soil level. I guess my first question would be will the sativa’s stay that short? I like the idea of the 2 1/2 x 5 tent not only because it’s cheaper, but also because it gives my plants a little more elbow room if I decide to grow something kind of bushy.

I would go with the tallest tent you can fit in your space that you can afford. You will need that room with Sativas. You can also use something like LST to help control the height and increase the flowering sites but you are going to still experience the stretch in flower. So either real tall tent or lots of training with a taller tent

I've not seen a 2.5x5 tent. Are you outside of the US? Where is it available? Thanks.

Hydro Crunch lists a 2.5 x 5 x 6.5 tent. They appear to be out of Southern California.

Some autos can get huge.
I have a Nirvana Blue Mystic auto (indica dominant) that is about 8 ft tall.
It was supposed to stay under 4 ft.
It's in a SOG type setup, and can't have anything done about that, except to butcher it, which I've done.

Get the tallest tent that will fit your space.

Use the tallest tent you can fit in your space.
