Okay so me and a buddy of mine built a 4x8 box. We have it in my living room/ bedroom and my house stays at 74 degrees all the time. But with the thousand watt, I have temps have hit up to 94 degrees and i dont know what to do. If any one could help that would be great. The fan is 400 cfm. and the carbon filter is rated for 450cfm. IMAG0079.jpg IMAG0080.jpgIMAG0082.jpg im sorry for the shitty pictures but the hps really messes with my camera.

If 84 is your high temp. your fine. You'll need to start worrying if the temps start to creep around 87 and up

Ah, now you have a problem.... So you do have one fan doing what, pulling out hot air? Do you have any type of air intake? And is your fixture sealed or open?

I have the one fan sucking out air from the room and blowing through the reflector and up my chimney. For intake i cut 2 6" round holes in the walls of the room is this not enough? and yes the reflector is sealed.

You could try putting a couple of fans blowing directly into the 6'' holes. This will force cooler air though your box. :2cents:

It also sounds like the carbon filter might be bogging down the fan. IDK on that one

Hmm that could work. Ill buy a couple fans tommrow. Anyone else got some input?

I'll second what TBM said but I wouldn't surpass the CFM of the filter by more than 50-100. This can render it ineffective. I will say though, that's a shit ton of ducting. 400CFM pulling through all of that (I'm taking a guesstimate at over 12 feet of ducting with turns and twists there?) isn't going to do too well. You've given us the dimensions of I'm assuming height and width.. what's the depth? If it's only like 2-3 feet, the 1kW is going to bring some heat regardless. You may want to look into active intake to bring some air into the room. Also, where's the closest central air duct? Is the room close to it? Put a box fan by the duct/vent and blow it at the room towards the intake. Sometimes air just needs a little push. Right now in the heat of the summer the room my tents are in is at 83 high, but my closet with a 600W even in a cooltube bumps up around 90. 90 will slow growth but I can't say by a ton from my current results... over 96 will cause heat stress.

fan isn't strong enough to push through the filter well. The specs should be reverse, high cfm for the fan than the filter.
oh shit. i read somewhere that the fan should have slightly lower cfm than filter.

The room is 8' long 4' wide and 7' tall. You think adding an intake fan at the top would hlp? and also shortening the ducting?

Cooling a 1000 watter is gonna be a handful adn your probably gonna need some direct injection of cooler air....I personally use a fllor register close to my tent to divert ac into my tent along with fresh air from a crawlspace...but hten again, I'm only running a 400watter....I only run my 1000 hps in wintertime...!!! Good luck...
