I did this grow back in May 2015, and documented it here on AFN.

Unfortunately some time afterwards, in a fit of paranoia, I requested to be deleted from the website, and came to my senses during the process....... keeping my reputation points, but losing my journals.

I read recently in The Auto Ultimate Showcase Grow Party DWC with Dutch Pro Nutrients. how everyone was getting heated about the huge yield claims being thrown around.
I thank @pop22, @Corgy and @derek420colorado for quoting me there, but there was some inaccuracy in the amount I was said to have harvested......

I grew 2 Dutch Passion Auto Ultimates, one gave 18.69 ounces (530g) and the other gave 21.24 ounces (602g) dry weight.

That's a total of 39.9 ounces or 1132g from 2 Auto plants!!!

So for @rshackleferd and any folk out there who don't believe it, here it is again, copied word for word from a different forum I grow on......

Welcome again, this is my latest grow..... 2x Dutch Passion 'Auto Ultimate' and 1x Dinafem 'Critical Jack' all in 5L airpots and 100% Canna Coco Professional plus.

I grew Critical Jack 2 grows ago, and me and the Missus loved it..... easy to grow, big yields and a lovely smoke.... a no brainer.
Auto Ultimate has great reviews, also a very strong smoke, and a big producer. coming from the excellent Dutch Passion catalogue.
I prefer growing Dutch Passion strains because of their reliable genetics, and with a name that includes the word 'Ultimate', I'm expecting some top shelf bud.
Although I got a decent sized harvest in my last grow (Blue Automazar and Think Different), I made a few mistakes towards the end. Basically I went a bit heavy on the EC and caused a bit of lock out.

This time I am aiming for lighter feeds..... no more than EC1.3-1.4, and I will be more careful with the Bloom boosters to ensure the EC still remains below 1.3-1.4. (by reducing the nute EC prior to booster addition).
Other than that, the set up is identical to before, 1.4m x 1.4m tent with 6" extraction and 5" intake.
Lighting is mixed..... 1x Helios 6 and 2x Helios Pro 2's covering the back half of the tent, and a 600W Solis Tek 6K MH bulb at the front half of the tent all on a 20/4 schedule...... I rotated the pots by 1/4 turn daily, and gave then all a go under the LEDs every 3-4 days. I have 2x Photon 6 panels on order so they will soon have a 6 panel each, and I'll remove the MH set up. I will use the Pro 2s as side lighting once the Photons arrive, or I might just change the MH for a Solis Tek 600W 2K bulb and keep the LEDs at the back..... I dunno yet.
As ever I'm using House and Garden Coco nutes and their full range of additives, and although at the start, they were in 5L airpots, I planned to transplant them into 20L airpots when they got a bit bigger...... not something that's recommended with Autos, but I will be careful not to disturb the roots. One thing with the 5L airpots, is that they dry out very quickly, and require at least 2 waterings a day.
Planted on 11th April, here they are at 6 days old and on a light feed with Roots Excellurator at EC 0.6. The leaves are curling up at the edges, and so I upped the feed to 0.7 the next day....

day 6 group.JPG

By day 28 I kept my promise by aiming for lighter feeds..... I was giving them around a litre and a half each 3-4 times a day..
If anything, my new girls were larger at EC1.0 at day 28 than my last grows, where I was already at EC1.4 at that stage.
Here they are.... Critical Jack front left... the other two are Auto Ultimates..... that one on the right is gonna be huge. They've all shown sex, and are currently in stretch.

I decided to treat my Girls to some new shoes on day 32, while watching West Ham throw it away.

I've had them in 5L airpots, and gave them a good watering in the afternoon to help the Coco hold together.
Then later on (while watching the match) I got my old 20L airpots out from my last grow, cleaned them up a bit (ahem), and half filled them with fresh Coco, gave them a bit of a soaking with nutrient, and then adapted the wet Coco to the sides of the airpot going about 1/2 way up, making a hole in the Coco about the size of the 5L airpot. Wearing rubber golves, I carefully unwrapped the old 5L airpot from each plant and pushed it into the pit, and added more coco down the sides, adapting it well into the corrugations in the pot. Job's a good 'un.
After another good soaking in EC1.1 feed, I put them back in the tent.
The following morning they looked fine, evident growth from the previous night, so all seems well so far....
Here they are at day 32.......
gallery_89266_10845_126840.jpg

The AU1 (rear right) was 90cm. the following day she was at 112cm.... so I decided to take action.... she would be through the roof in days at this rate....

I gave her a good watering an hour before, then gave the stem a bit of a squeeze at the desired location and felt the phloem and xylem give, then I slowly bent her over until she gave way.... now I've supported her head and allowed her to rest. I really don't have a clue on this technique really.... just remembering stoned snippets of info read over the years.....
gallery_89266_10845_285151.jpg

I also supercropped the branch below to give it space, and then decided to supercrop some of the side branches of AU2 out from the centre of the tent, out to the sides, spreading her out a bit. All this is supposedly not good for Autos.......
By day 35, the tent was filling up nicely, they responded really well, and were in early flower.....
gallery_89266_10845_285373.jpg

The main stem of AU1 was growing rapidly (but I made sure she was secured at 90 degrees), with tremendous upward growth of all the shoots.... she is gonna be massive lol.
By day 40, the girls were looking good, practically filling up the tent.....
gallery_89266_10845_441472.jpg

AU1 is the big one at the back right, AU2 is on the left, and CJ is at front right.
AU1 is a very healthy looking plant, she is BIG, I supercropped her main stem without incident as described earlier, and a few days later, I decied to supercrop another 5 of her larger side branches..... Both AUs had developed a considerble number of flower sites, with multiple branching of all side shoots, and with all the supercropping, AU1 in particular has the potential to be a massive giver. She was 115cm high 90cm deep and 70cm wide.
gallery_89266_10845_273644.jpg
AU1

AU2 is also gonna be massive, she too was getting too close to the lights, and so her main stem had to be supercropped. She's been under the Helios 6, but I positionned the 2 Helios Pro 2's on each side to give the lower side branches some extra light. I supercropped some of her branches away from the congested centre of the tent, guiding them into the side areas, and by day 40 she had 3 levels to her, the central main body of the plant plus the 2 lower side levels, getting their own light supply. She was 105cm high 70cm wide and 115cm deep, prretty much taking up half the tent. The 2 side levels were 75cm high and all in all, she kinda looked like a 'winner's podium' made of cannabis lol
gallery_89266_10845_405379.jpg
AU2

Both AUs were in the early stages of bloom, the CJ was more advanced in terms of flowering, but was a smaller plant 70cm tall, 35cm deep and 70cm wide. She was forming a good quantity of buds of good potential size, and already had a little frostiness. There's a lovely tangy cannabis smell in the tent on opening..... that lot's gonna reek by harvest time.

CJ

Sorry about the light in those last shots, they were all a lovely healthy green in reality, I was getting a bit paranoid about the HPS light being seen like a shaft of golden light cutting across the night sky, so I had to make it quick. By day 40, the AU2 was getting all LED, as mentioned before, while the AU1 and CJ were under 600W MH. That week I decided to switch to 600W HPS, as they slowed vegging and established themselves into flower.
I also stopped Nitrogen Boost in their feeds, and gave Bud XL (0.75ml/L) instead. I also increased Cal-Mag (which I use to buffer my EC 0 rainwater before adding nutes) from 0.2ml/l to 0.25ml. EC was in total 1.1 for most of last week, but now they are at EC 1.2.
I took delivery of my 2 new Photon Pro 126 panels today, but wasn't sure if I should change the HPS immediately or just wait till next grow.
gallery_89266_10845_16656.jpg

Here's a Photon Pro 126 LED panel with 4 lights on. The lenses over each LED is said to increase penetration depth and prevents wastage of light..... rather than relying on the crappy reflective surfaces of the tent, the light is focussed on the plant right from the get go.
Running them would be cooler than HPS, so for that reason alone, switching lights might be a good idea. I have so many possible configurations.... I think the AU2 should stay as is, but I could move the HPS to only over AU1 and put one Photon above CJ, and maybe one on as a side light... or I could put the HPS over CJ and both Photons over the AU2.
At the moment I have a side by side comparison between LED on AU2 and MH/HPS on AU1 and CJ..... maybe I should continue that to the end? It seems that, so far at least, they are roughly equal in effect. Both plants are similarly huge and have great potential.
Today it's day 45...
Things are progressing well in the grow tent... I rigged up the 2x Photon Pro 126s by putting one alongside the Helios 6 to give AU2 more light, and the other at an angle over CJ...... here's how much lighting I have going on in there......
gallery_89266_10845_390660.jpg

AU1 is front right, and gets the Solis Tek 600W HPS all to herself.
CJ is front left and was getting light from the Solis Tek 600W HPS, but was competing for light with AU1, so I gave her a laterally placed Photon Pro 126 this morning.
AU2 is at the back, getting lateral light from a Helios Pro 2 either side, and a Photon Pro 126 and Helios 6 from above.... around 1128W of LED power.
With all that light, temps are around 28C, 80%RH and I have 5 internal air circulation fans in there.
Here they are lights off as a group.... it's like a disco-jungle in there...... I'm getting flashbacks to Goa, Full Moon 1982 .......
gallery_89266_10845_170333.jpg

AU1 has been going mental, completely overshadowing CJ, and quite a few tips were getting pretty close to the lights, so this morning I gave her a bit of a supercropping..... she responded really well, giving me a nice even canopy with heaps of bud sites.....
gallery_89266_10845_226656.jpg

gallery_89266_10845_41774.jpg

AU2 is just huge, like a hedge at the back taking up half the tent.....
gallery_89266_10845_268087.jpg

....she is getting a lot of light from top and the sides, and also has a large amount of flowering sites......
gallery_89266_10845_275860.jpg

Finally CJ.... she would be an impressive plant if it were not for the AUs..... plus I had a bit of an accident when one of the air circulation fans fell from its position, and took out 4-5 branches of which I was able to successfully reposition and splint back 3 of them.... neither she or I was very happy about the incident....
gallery_89266_10845_248644.jpg

slightly more advanced in flowering, already showing off nice frosty colas.....
gallery_89266_10845_98205.jpg

You can see a supercropped branch of AU1 at the top.
I raised the EC to 1.2 a few days ago, and they showed no adverse signs.... they drink about 6-8L a day over 3 handfeeds.
More soon!
Thanks for looking in!

G'day caners ,

I'm not so happy today on day 49..... opened the tent to see the the edges of the uppermost leaves of AU1 and AU2 all curled up.....

Bud production has slowed down considerably, and they are drinking 5 litres, twice a day with minimal run off.......

.... where as the smaller CJ is doing very well in her limited space....

Here's a group shot showing how big the AUs are compared to the CJ front left.....

I've been running loads of lights, a 600W HPS over AU1, with LEDs over the rest..... temps were 28-29C on average, but the HPS was at max height, and even then, the plants were only a matter of inches below.....

...... a classic case of the dreaded......

H E A T S T R E S S

So I set about removing the HPS and repositionning the LEDs as high as possible and as evenly as possible over them, hopefully this will allow them to recover and get on with flowering.

This is how I set everything up now.... it's like a chuffing disco in there
default_lol.gif

I've got some H&G Algen Extract, which is basically a Kelp extract, I have read that this is good for heat stress.... anyone tried this??

I'll let you know how they get on..... any tips here would be well appreciated.

Have a good 'un!

After watching some geeezer add a UV bulb to his HPS late in flowering to boost resin production
default_wink1.gif
it got me thinking..... everyone knows there is some benefit to using MH for veg and HPS for flowering, but Solis Tek take it further by recommending 4 different bulbs for various stages of the grow..... of course, the cynical amongst us would say that it's company bullshit designed to get you to part with your cash..... but there's something in it......

..... especially when you look at the spectrum that each bulb produces......

What I planned to do with this grow was to use LEDs to get them started for 1-2 weeks then switched to a 6K 600W MH for the rest of veg, adding more LED as veg progresses. Once into bloom, switch the MH for a 2K 600W HPS, keeping the LEDs going to ease the stress of 'spectral' change, then swicthing back to the 6K MH during the 2 week flush to benefit from the UV that it produces.

In practice, all went well until the AU's got too big.... then heat stress took over and the AU's drank bucket loads, overdosed and locked out for a couple of days....

The AU1 was worse affected as it was directly under the HPS, AU2 wasn't as bad, but because it's canopy was up at the same height as AU1, it also suffered.

I had the EC on 1.1 - 1.2 just before the heat stress issue, but I noticed on the day of disaster that the EC had crept upto 1.3.... so as well as removing the HPS, and rejigging the LEDs, I flushed them with EC 0.8 (cos any lower will screw with the buffering capability of the Coco) for 12 hours then dropped the base EC by 0.2 to 1.0 and added 1ml/L Algen extract - a kelp extract, for the micronutrients and the beneficial effects it has on the roots. It seems to have done the trick, after 48 hours they have started up again, so the stoma must be opening up again, the crinkled, upturned edges of the uppermost leaves have started to straighten out, and they they are well and truly back on track, with plenty of active flowering sites..... I'll get some pics when lights off tomorrow arvo.

They seem to be very happy under the LEDs, the new Photons are really good, they have lenses over each LED that intensify the light and makes it penetrate further.... and I can see there is some difference.... lower flowers that tend to be popcorn seem to be more developed than usual. Temps are much much lower, dropping from 28-30C down to 20-23C.

With all that LED going on in there, I get an ear worm everytime I open the tent..... Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. I dunno why
default_lol.gif

CJ is doing beautifully, well developed, frosty colas with lovely green leaves.... not like my usual rusty red crispy leaved buds, so fingers crossed she continues in this good shape. That geezer who used the UV that I mentioned just earlier, he also had this mad idea of keeping the EC low.... turned out he was onto something ;)

Day 52 update

All is proceeding nicely..... I supercropped 5/6 stems on AU2 that were getting close to the lights.... as you can see the AUs are inches from the top of the tent, with the CJ sitting quietly budding away there in the left front corner.....

AU1 is at the front with AU2 taking up the back half of the tent.

AU1 was under the HPS so she got the brunt of the heat stress. Last week I trimmed a lot of the lower leaves and popcorn away to increase airflow, and to allow her to concentrate on fixing the heat stress above, rather than the weak stuff below. She could do with some more defoliation there on the bottom right.....

plenty of bud activity in AU1

still quite a lot of crinkled leaves, but they're improving

flowering has resumed

she has responded well to supercropping

AU2 is going for it..... she has been mainly under LED this whole grow, and was performing as well as AU1 in every way.... unfortunately, because her canopy is at the same level as AU1, she also got heat stressed, but not as bad. The new Photon LEDs have made a noticeable difference in light penetration.... the colas start from deeper, and there's loads of bud sites....

AU2

here's 3 stems that I supercropped last night.... they're responding well

Meanwhile, while all this heat stress malarkey's been going on higher up, CJ has been quietly getting on with it, showing her big fat sisters how it's done.....

CJ

she has some nice fat sparkly buds

I'm gonna start molasses tonight and I'm thinking of giving her a little PK13/14, but I'm gonna make sure the EC stays at the current 1.0 - 1.1 region.

Have a hazy weekend, wherever you may be!

Day 59 update.

It's that boring bit during flowering when you're just waiting.... watching for any change.....

Group shot

The AUs are just massive...... right up to the lights, which are at max height. They have both completely recovered from the heat stress and are flowering beautifully. There are just masses of bud sites in the canopy, and the Photons are penetrating deep into the foliage, so there are loads of long colas forming.

AU1

AU2

They are on the following House and Garden nutrient schedule....

EC0 rainwater with 0.25ml/L Cal Mag to buffer and bring base EC to 0.2.

0.75ml/L A&B to EC0.8
0.1ml/L Drip Clean
0.3ml/L Roots Excellurator
1ml/L each of Algen Extract, Multizyme and Bud XL

Final EC 1.1

AU1

AU2

The AUs have a long way to go, at least 6 more weeks..... I expect them to pass the 100 day mark.

CJ is just getting on with the final stages of flowering..... much shorter than the AUs, she sits there in the corner, with her own LEDS.... 2x Helios Pro 2s.

CJ

CJ in bloom

She has some lovely colas forming, all fattening out nicely, and absolutely covered in trichomes....

CJ

CJ

CJ

She has been on a slightly different feed recipe for the last week.... with PK13/14 and molasses instead of Roots Excellurator....

EC0 rainwater with 0.25ml/L Cal Mag to buffer and bring base EC to 0.2.

0.6ml/L A&B to EC0.6
0.1ml/L Drip Clean
1ml/L each of Top Booster (PK13/14), Algen Extract, Multizyme and Bud XL
Molasses

Final EC 1.0

This week I will drop the Top Booster, re-start Roots Excellurator, and start Top Shooter at 0.5ml/L. I will increase the Top Shooter by 0.5ml/L for 2 weeks then flush for 2 weeks before cropping her..... at least, that's the plan.

More next week..... I am hoping to see some big sparkly buds building on the AUs, and a boost to the CJ buds.

Thanks for checking in.

Day 66-68 update

It's been another mental week in the tent, those AUs are gigantic, with numerous stems hitting the lights which are at max height. AU2 is happy but AU1 is showing signs of heat stress again..... leaves dark green and she's drinking heaps......

I'm also concerned that the weight of a potential big harvest will be too much for the girls to bear and they will collapse.

This is how the canopy looked on day 66...

I managed to take the LED at the front, over AU1, off it's chain and fix it directly to the tent frame, and positioned a clip-fan so that is blows over the top of the canopy..... I got an extra 2 inches of space, much needed for air circulation.

I carefully placed a net over the canopy, fixing it in place with bungees, then pulled it down taking care to make sure eveything was correctly in place.

Finally I had to supercrop a few big stems over...... this is how she looked on day 68.....

The AUs are filling out nicely. AU1 is perhaps a little stressed, but that seems to be resloving now, on day 70 the AU1 buds were showing way more trichomes and a thick covering of fresh fluffy thick white pistils.

Here's a shot of AU1 on day 68, showing signs of heat stress but some nice colas forming, and some recent supercropping...

It's kinda hard getting shots of AU2, she's so hidden by the 2m high AU1, but in reality AU2 is the biggest of all, she's like a bloody hedge.

I stuck the camera in blindly to see what was lying there at the back......

It's like a magical forest in there
default_lol.gif

I've also been supercropping her, but she keeps bouncing back.....

CJ, meanwhile is nearing completion, and looking lovely in her quiet little corner.....

I have her on Top Shooter, and I reckon she has another couple of weeks before I flush her...

Cheers for stopping by, more soon!

Welcome to.....

Day 80

I had a think about why the AU's stretched so much... I decided to analyse the NPK ratios during the grow.

I do a spreadsheet of my nute values during the grow, so I took some data from it and made a chart showing the nutes and additives that I use, along with their respective NPK values. Then I took my measurements from week 5 veg, also from mid bloom week 10. I also added values for the week I run Top Booster (PK 13/14) and for the final boost with Top Shooter. For each of these set of liquid measurements, I calculated the NPK for each feed and totalled it at the bottom.

You can see increased N in veg, reduced N and increased K in bloom, and further increases in P and K as flowering progresses and I use Top Booster and Top Shooter.....

You can see that in flowering, my N levels were in the 4-5 region, when it should really be down to 2...... and looking at the ingredients, the Cal Mag is to blame..... I will have to find a Cal Mag product that has less N than the 'Bloom'Cal Mag that I currently use..... it's 5.2-0-0..... Grotek do a Calmag product called Cal-Max which is 2-0-0..... more suitable for flowering. It's ironic the 'Bloom' product is not suitable for flowering......

It's well into week 12 and the tent is in full bloom, with Critical Jack almost at completion down in the bottom front left side, with the Auto Ultimates towering overhead......

At around 70cm tall, CJ is looking lovely.....

.... with a nice array of colas, all sparkling away.....

.... I have started the flushing process for CJ, no feed for 24 hours, then a good drenching of EC0 rainwater tomorrow and onwards for 10-14 days.

I gave the Auto Ultimates a good trimming down under over the week, the net is a full 1 metre above the top of the Coco.....

If you look carefully you can see the knuckles formed after the supercropping that I did on AU1 back in early Bloom.....

Here's the supercropped mainstem knuckle close up......

AU1 is full of bud with a busy canopy... here's what's going on above the netting....

Her many colas are glittering away with trichomes.....

... and she also has a good amount of action on her left side because of the angled LEDs for CJ....

AU2 meanwhile, is taking up the back half of the tent, and again, a forest of bud in her canopy.

She is 4-5 days ahead of AU1, with slightly more substantial buds, full of trichomes.

The AU's have been on PK 13/14 this week at EC 1.0, and this week I will start them on Top Shooter which is PK 20/9. This should really fatten them up!

Cheers for looking in, and wish them luck for the final push!
