Indoor taiga and polarlight #2 in dwc under l.e.d

Welcome back mate. I hope you and the Mrs had a good holiday. Looking forward to this as always, interested to see how the Taiga turns out as I have a few seeds in the fridge. Good luck.

day 1

all 6 seeds made it above ground so ill class today as day numero uno, good healthy seeds from dutch passions

ive put 4 seeds in the 4 buckets

the polarlight #2 consists of ...

rhizotonic
formulex
silica

ph 5.8 and ec 1.0

the taiga consists of

vitalink plant start
dutch pro take root
silica

ph 5.8 and ec 1.0

loads of people do loads of different things when it comes to dwc so no 2 ways are right or wrong, the best method for me is to keep the water at least 2 cm above the net pot and keep it there for the whole of the grow and my reason for this is simple

i wanna encourage just feeding roots into the res, if you leave a gap of 1" or 2" beneath the pots this encourages air roots and corded roots to take shape but its a complete waste, you want 100% feeding roots into the nutrient mixture sucking up as much food as they can and creating big flowers :D

with the net baskets i create a bed using clay pebbles just above the water level inside the pot and place the rockwool onto this and then cover all sides of the cube with more clay balls to keep it secure, the reason for this is i want the cube to dry out which forces the plant to send roots out searching for food, as soon as the tap root hits the res this sends a signal back up to the plant telling it that all the food is down here which has the effect of the plant pushing out loads of roots

dwc is trial and error at 1st but once you got it sorted out the growth is amazing, i seen the yield on these strains is around 50g per plant lmfao i think that info might have to change after this grow :toke:

im running both panels at 150 watts each so ive just gotta sit back and let nature do its thing

pics, the 2 on the left are polarlight #2 and the others are obviously taiga

good to see you back on the forum mate, ill be watching as always...

Nice detail. Thanks man. I have wondered what you started in their water from the very beginning. Wasn't sure if it's just supposed to be plain ph water or have nutrients. Why are you using different supplements for them both? Sorry if I missed that somewhere. Thanks Seymour.

as stated above, there is no right or wrong way to grow in dwc its all about the growers preference

as for the suppliments its all about the n-p-k ratios, i couldnt possibly explain in only a matter of a few words the different effects the ratios have on a plants growing habits but its something a hydro grower learns over a period of time

the 2 different root stimulators should also produce different results, hydro is so more in depth that you can create many different reactions from the plants just by tweaking the ratios and adding the right suppliments but again its all about growers own choice and the desired effects he or she wants

if you like to keep things easy then soil is the way to grow but if you want rewards with way more control of plant development then hydro is a better choice, no 2 plants are ever the same and they will have a threshold on how hard you can push them but once you have found the limits then you can push any strain to its maximum capability

my air pump is haliea super silent 60ltrs per minute split 4 ways at present

hope this helps

day 4 from seed

all my babies are settling in nicely to their new homes and im just waiting for the roots to hit the res, ive changed my setup and instead of having a bigger grow room ive opted for a veg and flower room which should see me harvesting every 5 weeks ;)

both grow rooms have l.e.d lights and i bet loads of people are wondering why i just dont grow 1 mother and use clones to flower and the answer is simple, autos take 10 weeks from seed to harvest give or take so if i start my next batch of seeds in 4 weeks time when 1 batch is coming down the next are ready to go into my flower room giving me more harvests per year than using clones, the biggest advantage for me is that the autos will already be flowering :D

ill be using my 1 watt penertrator in the veg room and keeping the 2 gen-x panels in my flower room, i have the capability of running my flower room @ 600 watts but i honestly wont need it, having 2 panels running @ half power gives me much better coverage but i do have the extra power if i should need it

if i do anymore grow journals after this 1 then they will all be in the flowering stage of the grow
