I've been traveling a bit and I think the neglect got to my Round 2 plants. The Stone Dragon got mold I chopped her and found Aphids on the bottom. I've never seen aphids on canna?
I missed my window for high PK at the end for my two Purple Mazars who have not filled in too well. I think the heat is throwing them off I plan on chopping them soon.
Round three is looking stellar.
One Purple Jem by Casey Jones showed male and was chopped the other is looking male and when I can be sure will get the chop.
The Cobras, still my fave
Dr FG X Cobra
And my Purple Jems showing alot of varriety
I just fed round 3 , molasses I feel like the sea grow is lacking on the carbs for sweet flowers. 1 tsp/gal sea grow bloom and a calcium.
Sorry to hear about the mold and aphids bro that sucks and yeah your right round three is looking great. I hope the mold didn't cause a total loss though :smokebuds:
Round 2 has concluded. I chopped the last two Purple Mazars: Week 13-ish
This one was sad for a long time, by the time I had chopped it almost every bud had a moldy tip. There was one seed on the two pollinated branches. I ended up composting the whole plant due to mold. It never filled in could have been a lot of things.
Purple Mazar had no almost no mold. Semi dense, lots of crystals and very dark purple. smells great and I can see a lot of seed from pollination.
Round Three Group Shots and randoms. Mostly the nice ones and the runts.
I'm up to about 1 1/2 tsp / gallon of sea grow and some bloom booster and calcium and molasses.
A bit late but I have started to soak round 4. I'm going to keep them in small pots in hopes of having them finish in a decent time. We'll see.
Round 4 officially started in seed trays. I didn't have enough dirt/time to start them in larger containers.
12 Stone dragons
10 Purple Jem x Stone Dragon
10 Cobra
Did I mention how much I like Cobra such a beautiful plant these seeds are from a different mom from what I've been starting.
All the seeds were soaked in tap water for 3 days, a day longer than I like the water was a little murky but most were showing tails.
I'm in a high humidity location with tons of evening fog that rolls in every night. On top of that my greenhouse does not have enough ventilation. Water collects on the roofing panels and drips strait down like rain rather then running down the roof. This season I've also had the caterpillars and aphids spreading their mess which can also contribute to mold. I've been traveling so I have not been able to be proactive with good control and prevention methods.
All that said I feel I have been lucky with mold so far this season and hopefully I can squeeze out round 4 with similar success. The really bad Purple Mazar was neglected for a long time; it was in a far corner where I was not removing moldy parts early on and then just left it to suffer for far too long, plus the caterpillars got it and there were signs of Aphids too...You're making me feel like a neglectful gardener
I pulled out 3 Purple mazar x cobra seeds and started soaking then. I'm bummed it looks like my cobra x Stone dragon pollination did not take, no seeds. I was really hoping for that cross.
