Greetings bipedal carbon based lifeforms,

I come to you this day seeking assistance for my sickly Blue Streak plants.
My grow thread can be found at https://www.autoflower.org/f5/stunted-goes-streaking-5694.html

The plants are 33 days old.
All three plants show the same symptoms but BS-E seems to be coping the best.
BS-D is the worst affected and is shown in the first 4 pictures, BS-D is at 6in high.
BS-F is looking similar, last 8 pics and is 10.25in high.

These have been fed using GH MaxiGrow at 490ppm (manually swinging PH from 5.6 to 6.0 and back down) for the last 12 days and had a couple of hits with PK13-14 (low doses), this morning I changed over to GH MaxiBloom at 700ppm but I maybe left it a bit late....(I have no nute data from before the 23rd Jan due to a software malfunction)

They are in a mix of 2:1 Perlite/Vermiculite and I run flood to waste, they are flooded morning and night at around the same time each day.

My PH pen has been calibrated and is in good condition, my EC meter on the other hand has not been calibrated for over a week (probably 2 weeks) as I have no more calibration fluid (but it seems correct)...I have to order some from the U.K as I cannot find the correct one here in Oz.

So the pics: First 4 are BS-D and the last 8 are BS-F

And finally, with some of my newer S60's I have some lovely green algae growing on the perlite as I did not cover some with small hydroton...any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

Thanks,
Stunted Fishtank

BS-D has been disassembled to find out what is going on.
There is some very strange growth happening....well there was :p
Photos were taken in sunlight on white paper towel and are a good representation of the actual color.

I am impressed that the roots looks so good, I expected them to be bad. Came out of the 16oz container easy enough, they were not slimy or smelly :)
So anyone now have any ideas as to what has been going on?

Hmmm Stunted thinks he has found the problem.....a little more testing should confirm it to be a PH issue :p

Bad Stunted bad.

It is as expected, PH problem that should have been caught very early on.
It was not, simply because I stopped checking one thing, the PH of the runoff as I did some plumbing in the cabinet and everything including new plants runoff into the one collection bucket (dont listen to Stunted, he is makin shit up so no-one laughs at him).
Also if I had of rechecked some mixed nutes I would have seen it.....

The how, what, when, where, why of it.

So I mix my nutes at around 3-4ish pm, then I use some at 6PM when lights come on, there is normally enough mixed for 4 floods and then I mix more.
Stiff shit you say, so did I, I just shoved the mixed nutes in a dark cupboard in sealed drink bottles.
I have half of yesterdays nute mix left and tested it..
So my nutes started out at 5.8, two separate mixes, one Grow and one Bloom
The Grow nutes (@280ppm) bring my water down to 6.3 then PH Down is added to get it to 5.8
The Bloom nutes (@700ppm) are enough to bring my water down to exactly 5.8 so nothing else is added.

Two seperate bottles of Grow solution tested:
Bottle 1 = 6.3 PH
Bottle 2 = 6.3 PH
Funny how it stopped at 6.3....

One container of Bloom solution tested:
Container 1 = 6.7 PH

I just made a 500ml batch of PH 5.8 water (PH Down used to get it there), this was added to the Perlite/Vermiculite from BS - D and stirred then tested....result 6.3 :p

I think I am getting dumber as each day passes, why do I leave things till it's really up the shit before I will do anything about it, every grow I fuck myself over with some simple mistake :p

all part of the learning process.... trust me... if you life depended on it as it does for me... you'll get it right... :toke:

attention to detail... ph, water, temps.... the KEY components!

:smokebuds: glad you discovered the issue!

:smoke:

It's all good stunted. It's all part of the learning process. I'm still trying to get it down myself. Stunted will be ok!

yep one day it will all come together :)

Now does anyone have any suggestions how I get rid of green algae that resides on some of my Perlite?

cover your perlite with some black plastic and then some white plastic on that... reflect the light... and kill whatever light gets through the white plastic with the black... algae needs light.... alternatively... sprinkle a thin layer of fine play sand on top... 1/2" or so..
