New Grower staggered harvest 1 plant

I asked the question in my grow log aswell but thought id get a quicker answer here.

my small Autopilot xxl looks to my novice eye to be pretty much ready, would I be ok removing the top colas and raiseing the plant to get light to the lower unripened buds? or would I be shooting myself in the foot doing that?

gave them a trim of the leaves to let some more light in but not sure how well its going to work.

if its ok to top the colas whats the best way of doing it so not to damage the rest?

Yes you can ... I looked at your grow and I can't say if it's ready ... but harvesting in stages is an option done by many ...

sweet thanks, is there any way specific like done at the node or just under the bud removed?

iv no macro to get in close and its hard to get close enough with a 60x loupe.

iv got brown receeding hairs and from what I can see milky trichs. also want to see how I prefer the high, the tall one that doesn't have such a dense main cola il let go till all the hairs are brown and receeded.

When I harvest in stages I just look for the most ripe buds and cut them off ...

think il take the top 4 and leave the rest to ripen some more

I always leave a little bud nub so I don't have to handle the bud ...

yea was planning to leave bits to hang it by and not to much above the bud left.

just went in with scissors in hand and couldn't bring myself to chop the top off lol.

Once it's cut you can't put it back ... I generally don't cut until my plants are half dead from cannibalizing their fan leaves ...

Haha yea I know what you mean. Iv cut one bud so I can try the buzz from this far in.
I'm only on my 2nd grow so need to find my feet with how I like it.

never know how street weed is grown to compare strains. And highs
