Indoor Squid's Second Grow-Duurty Dragon, Diesel Ryder & MI5

Thanks man. Just from memory. My spring water is 123 ppm pretty much every time out of the bottle. When I added the 1/4 tsp of Grow and Root it went to 230 ppm, I think. I know it was somewhere around there, sorry man. I will start taking note of it from now on, I should be doing that anyway. I am waiting for her to tell me she's thirsty, then feed her an actual 1/4 Strength feed of Grow and Root, not 1/4 Tsp, and let her eat it up! I will take note of the ppm and post it. Should be tomorrow or the next day, probably tomorrow.

Hey squid! Good morning :)

Just checking your news. If we'd be talking photos I wouldn't mind letting them beg for water, but since we're talking autos I wouldn't go as far as no water until they droop because you'll lose 1 or 2 days of grow with that.

I'm not sure but I think you have a good draining soil right (with perlite for example)? In winter my soil lasts for a week humid, but during the hotter days (27'C/18'C) it will take a water at least every 3 to 4 days. Perlite will also allow you to be a lil less worried with over watering because the roots absorb the extra Oxigen they have.

Cheers

Hey there Hugo. Thanks for coming by my thread. I don't have a ton of experience as you can see, but I have been told that's ok to do and sorta guarantees they will just drink it all u fast and blow up. It has been several days and they are quite dry with no signs of drooping. I think I will wait until later tonight and give her a feeding. I have Promix and there is xtra perlite mixed in for the Airpots, just not for the party cups, but that's fine. It's drying rather well, just wanted to wait as long as I could. Thanks dude.

Oh what do we have here? A fresh shipment of goodies came in for the Squid today :D
EarthJuice Crystals ph down, a bottle of Silica Blast and a bottle of GO Bio Weed! I now hold the power of cold-presses Seaweed!

Do you buy your spring water Squid? That's a pretty high ppm for plain water. I don't think it's a big deal but my RO treated water that I buy I think comes in well below 50 ppm's.
Here's what I did for my girls as far as feeding so far and it's worked out beautifully for me so far.
At day 7 or 8 I hit them with about 275 PPM of bio roots and camag+. I fed that mix twice in a weeks time. No sign of burn so the next week I bumped it up to about 500 ppm with the same mix as before but I added some grow nutes in as well. Same results, plants ate it up. So the current week I'm up into the 700's as far as ppm's go and am now on a full grow nute schedule starting around day 21 with no signs up burn or deficiency. I like to hit my girls hard and fast with the nutes, as long as they can take it. If they show signs of stress from feeding obviously back off. The veg stage of an auto is like intensive care in my mind, they need lots of attention in their young life (not to much though:D) to ensure quality growth and a nice healthy, strong plant. I guess what I mean is that I went into this grow with a plan/feeding schedule in mind and so far it's been working great. Bottom line is that the ppm meter is your friend, I use it to determine my feeding schedule the entire grow. IMO the sooner you hit them with nutes the better. Of course this all depends on what grow medium you're using and so forth but it works for me. Looking good buddy. How about some fresh pics?

Yes, I buy that Spring Water from Walmart. I did use the distilled but, I don't like distilled it has NOTHING in it and is sorta recommended not to use by some so I stopped it. They have 'drinking' water but I am sure it has flouride and other stuff I don't want, so I use the Spring. I live in the city and I haven't tested my water or anything but from what I can tell from water reports on the cities website, I don't wanna chance it, oh well. Eventually when we can afford it, I will install a small ro filter for use, but until then this is what I have to use. I think it's fine.

And cool I see what you mean about the nutes and ppm, I am going to start doing that, makes it pretty easy to follow along and know where you're at and all. Just gotta be careful feeding early and all with Autos depending on the strain.

It IS Wednesday which is weekly update day, I am just waiting for them to wake up later on and I will post an update. Those pics a few pages back are only from a couple days ago, but I will have more up later on of everything.

For sure buddy. every Auto is different and takes to nutes in a different way. My RO water is "drinking water" but as far as fluoride goes I think that's only added by "city" water providers (tap water). Not positive though.

Squid I have to chime in about distilled water! I have used it for 3 years now and I wouldn't recommend anything else! The reason being is because its a clean slate. Ph is always neutral but don't ever try to get a ph reading because there is nothing in it to get a ph. This makes it very simple if you need a flush. Secondly I want to be in control of my ppm so having no ppm at start is great. 3 ml Cal/mag and I am dead on the perfect starting ppm of 125-150. Then just add the nutes and go. I also have terrible city water that an ro system wouldn't make it any better. I have ordered a distiller to make my own water because to be honest you are way better off health wise drinking distilled water. I can make 56 gallons a week for my plants and for us for consumption! :2cents:

Sweet. Thanks Dub I always enjoy your input, mate. So should I switch back to the distilled or the drinking water instead of spring since I am at 123 ppm out of the bottle? Ph is sometimes 7.5 sometimes damn 8.1.

While I have you guys here. I went to check on my two MI5 males in the other room and when one moved a little I saw pollen start clouding out and falling down. He is at three weeks on the dot today. The other is still forming balls. Is it collection times and killing for the other male that is dropping or should I wait?

Much thanks!

as far as the water, i wouldnt go with distilled..thats better only with germination. I used the walmart "drinking" water at times on my auto's and i could def tell the difference..they just loved it..you want minerals in the water, it acts as an antacid in you soil, helps with ph. Distilled water, has nothing in it, its def usable, but not as effective for growing. just my opinion. the only reason i used water outta my tap was bcuz of $$..otherwise i wouldve gone with the green cap the whole time.

So you think the green cap 'drinking' water is better? I guess I will just get a gallon next time and see what the ph and ppm is compared to the 'spring' water. I JUST bought four more gallons of the Spring yesterday, haha.

But hey, DubV is a great grower and has had much success with distilled, Growbee. Just saying. :D
