Sprout issue

This sprout was frozen and not developing, so I pulled it. Any idea why the root would curl up? My only guess would be the soil is too hot.

Sprouting roots and stems going in different directions to start, popping out of the seed and then getting their bearings and turning up or down, doesn't mean anything, is normal. And if it curled up as or after the plant froze and died, that seems very possible.
