I plabt directly into my medium. I usually give it a good 6 days before I start getting worried lol

Between 5-6 days ..that's why I place a toothpick next to seed , so I know where to start excavating ..lol

I soak for 18 to 24 hours, then straight to soil. I don't recall ever going past 7 days, 4 is average to break ground.

I am kinda sorta thinking about trying this. Could be a good learning experience for me. But I have a couple of questions ... 1) how maintenance intensive is it as far as watering and feeding is concerned (in soil) as I am a newb and don't have a clue; and 2) IF I can get my husband to join the forum does anyone have any objections to another married couple both in the comp?

I'd say go for it, and glad to have you both!

Thanks @Renaissance Redneck for the link. I will see if I can talk my other half into it. A little husband and wife rivalry is always fun lol. So go ahead and sign me up. I have lots of choices in Mephisto beans. Just have to decide which one.

Germ by jan 21st
solo cup may be used. In any way.
Standard size
Up to 18oz.
Root mass MUST be inside 1cup with plant.
Any medium of choice.
Autoflowers only.
Weekly updates preferred biweekly mandatory.
Final plant selected by feb 14th.
Put yer name on your cup
And a final pic must contain full plant/cup with a note
