I've got it all guys. A full bag of ocean forest, full bag of light warrior, and a full bag of non ferted perlite. ( not the miracle grow shit ). I'll be using 3 gallon pots and plan on making a layer of light warrior on top of the ocean forest ( as suggested by other members ). Where does the perlite come in? Should I mix it in with only the ocean forest only? Or the light warrior only? Or both? Im not going to mix the 3 because I want a seperate layer for my seedlings to grow in without the harsh nutes of the ocean forest. So basicly what should I do with perlite? All 3 bags are still unopened...

I would mix the perlite in both the ffof and light warrior than do your layering.I think both those mixes have perlite already in it so don't over due it with the perlite.:smokebuds:

Is the perlite even necessary in this case?

I'd say no. I have mixed extra perlite with pre mixed soil before and it held water like a sieve.

Alrite, plus the guy at the hydroponic store said LW is airy enough. So I guess ill fill my 3 gallon pot 2/3 OF and 1/3 LW. Also is doing this in advance good like mixing soil or should I wait till the seeds germinate to fill my pots ( seeds havent even came in mail yet ).

Pre-mixing and watering the mix in thoroughly will allow the mycos and organic elements to be more active at the time of planting. I do this about the same time I place my seeds in the napkin for germination... 2-3 days is enough. :peace:

I ended up mixing 6 gallons of OF and 6 gallons of LW in a tub. I let it sit for a few days then put it into my 3 gallon pots. I put an extra layer of LW on top of that for my germinated seedlings. 4/4 have came up. Hope this works well for them I didn't want it to hot because I plan to add nutes. All is good so far:bong:

24/0 light or 20/4 light?
