So i have this plant that doesent seem to start flowering properly. Its a mixture between earlys, photos and autos. Earlys are quite far in the genetic line already, it has some sativa genes also further in the genetic line from one side, also northern lights, matanuska tundra and af is from low ryder(#1 i think). All of the parents have been stabilized to be able to flower in 65° N(some genes since 70s i think and some just 2 generations) before mixed together, then selected af only indoors. I suspect it has at least almost the most complex af genetics in the world  But because it has some photos mixed in at just 4th gen, it might still make some photos. But this sort of trying to flower, but wont quite start is new to me. Also its been a long time since i last grew, so im quite rusty with this stuff..

Its been about 4 weeks since it showed first preflowers(at around age of 4 weeks) and still there is no proper bud forming, just more preflowers(which seem quite small, is this a trait for some or does it just mean crappy genes?) and typical early flower growth explosion and it seems to grow in more sativa style. The plant did have a slow start with veg also, it grew a lot slower than others at first, but then when it started to show preflowers, it quickly grew bigger than others, now its just growing and growing and is going to be huge even if it starts to bud properly tomorrow.. Swiss dream cbd auto seems planted at the same time looks like about 2 weeks from ready and what seems to be fastest of auto blackberry kush planted at same time seem about 3 weeks from ready..

I read that some people have had autos that just didnt flower, but im not sure if they were just some rare photo phenos or if they started preflowering in 20/4 light(and not after like 2 months), but just wouldnt bud properly.

So does it seem likely that this is just some slow sativa pheno or that the genes are just somehow f'd up?

Heres a pic of whole plant, its not been topped, just some lst after it started to look like its going to blow up big time

Can you put it under 12/12?

Id rather not as i have other plants 2-4 weeks from ready and 2 just on their second week :/ maybe i should try adding about 2 more hours of darkness if that would help.

There are breeders around that will cross to a photo, work it a couple generations and call it done. Photo gene pops up occasionally, as they only "kinda" locked it down. If it appears, 12/12 is one of 2 solutions. The second involves a trash can.

Yep. These genes comes from around forums and people i met back in the early days of autoflower. I know the geneology of this plant quite far away and know which photos are used at what generations.

Matanuska tundra x lowryder used on this is only f3. Its mixed with northern lights x lowryder which is also only f3. Both naturally selected for autoflowers. Their mix is f1. This f1 is mixed with semi landrace early mixed with earlys and photos, but stabilized enough to be at least early. Some of its genes go way way back and its an steady early. This was mixed with low ryder and was at f2 before mixed back with low ryder. This backcross to lowryder was used with that matanuska northernlights lowryder thing.

So yea photo pheno could be possible, but from what i have read if its an photo pheno, it wouldnt had started to show preflowers THAT early. Which makes me think it could be early genes popping in, but i dont have any experience with earlys and internet doesent seem to have much info about them either as they have largely been forgotten nowadays..

I know photos will show sex even without changing lights to 12/12 if you veg them long enough, but this didnt veg that long before showing preflowers and was still pretty normal size for AF when they start toflower, as it grew so slow during veg.

I couldnt even find such basic info about early strains whether they will bud in 16/8 lights for example or if 12/12 is required for proper budding, as they can start to flower before lights go 12/12 outside..

I believe I've read DJ Short did work with quick photos... I've been reading a lot on breeding techniques etc lately. I believe this is the title. There's a pdf available, I can't seem to find the link now.
