Hi Afn ... got a couple of autoberrys about 2 inches from a 125w plug n grow cfl. everything seemed to be going well so far but I have noticed a slight upwards curl on the edge of one of my young plants ... other than that they seem to be healthy and green and growing fast. I know the temps can get to 31 degrees C but that's only during the hottest part of the day and I have the lights off during this period.

is this something I should worry about ?

Two inches away from the tops is to close. This might be causing heat stress on the leaves.Move the light up at least to six to eight inches from the plants and see how they react.

Yeah that makes sense will move the pots down a few inches when the light is back on later.
I read that cfl lights should be as close as poss to the plants so I assumed that they would be ok. lesson no 1 learned ! lol

Thanks Namvet

Here is a pic you can just about see the leaves curling up slightly ( or a may be my imagination)

:DI don't really see a leaf problem.I also have been using cfls for a while and keep mine at about four to six inches from top.:2cents:

Looks lovely dude, the leaves naturally curl at the beginning stage then flatten out, i wouldnt worry dude i had my plants real close to my cfl few years back and had no probs really.. Did hav it at 4, 5inches away tho to allow growth..

Yeah they seem fine. There's a very fine way to know if it's a too much temperature/light issue: whenever you close the lights, the leafs will flatten down after 1h or 2h. Voilá!

yeah 4-5 inches is a good distance for such younguns... those cfls are great but they do throw a bit of heat... that space keeps them from getting just a hair too wamr... lookin good mate! :smokeit:
