Just my opinion but if it was due to "light" they would of been lanky n not short-( I dont grow outside tho so idk). Another thing when plants are small it could be the watering was off and roots got into pockets of dry soil and just stunted them..
Genetics play a role as well, so the possibility of one or more than one reason why they might of stunted.

OK interesting. Think you're right about the genetics potentially playing a part here too.

Picking out the variables:

1. Different strain
2. Cloudy weather
3. BioBizz substrate (first with All-Mix, latest with LightMix)

On the third point: maybe I shouldn't been watering more frequently with this substrate? But then again, I'd expect to see more obvious signs of underwatering with wilting etc which just hasn't happened.

Update on this one.
I harvested the original plant...Shockingly poor yield, probably 3.5g

The root ball was unbelievably small...

The latest plant is still small, quite stretchy with pretty large gaps between the nodes, and no branching. I'd say it looks more akin to a 2-3 week old plant vs. a 5.5 week old plant. Pre-flowers starting to show.

I'd love to get some thoughts on possible causes. I can't see that my watering technique or nutrient schedule would've been the issue - especially on the latest plant.

Big thanks in advance.
