I have a digital ph meter that i use for water..but to measure soil ph i was using this kit.. :peace:

so if my ph runoff is lower than the ph'ed water i flushed with (6.3) than whats my true soil ph?
is the runoff ph what i should go by..if so i need to raise it huh?

Using the "run-off" method, the soil pH will be somewhere in between the pH of the water you pour in and the pH of the run-off. (i.e. pour in 7.0, run-off is 6.0, soil pH will be in between 6.0 and 7.0... I'm not sure if it would be exactly in between or not.)

The test I spoke of was not using run-off. The soil is in the water and sits long enough to get the reading of the soil itself. As I mentioned, this is an area that I have little experience with, and I was given the instructions for the test by an experienced grower and it worked, in my case.

I'm going to get us a little help on this to make sure we get this right. One of the other guys, who hopefully has more experience with this, will be along shortly. :peace:

not to step on any toes JD, but if you pour 7.0 in and get 6.0 out... your soil is even lower.... 5.5 ish

@kromaxzone... your using 6.3 pouring in? or you're getting 6.3 out? (I find it usually falls about 1/2 way between the water in and soil ph on the runoff...)

you really should get a soil ph meter...

went back and read some more... def sounds like your soil ph kit is off and you overdid it on nutes... proba part of the curling issue, although the previous humidity issues may also have played a role. flush with ph 6.5 water 3X pot volume... then go 1/4 strength FF nutes dose... so 1/2 tsp / gal of TB and you can prob be ok with 1 tsp per gallon BB

:smokeit:

Thanks JM. I was the one who made the mistake on the run-off thing.. :peace:

no worries mate... easy to get mixed up typing and explaining... :smokebuds:

EDIT: wow... cant tell I'm stoned outta my frikin gourd can ya? :crying: :crying: reread your post and realized... :crying: really, I swear I know about plants! :crying:

IMO over fert... ph is in range of non problematic...

and lime is neutral 7 ph can raise and lower ph ... it obviuosly cant lower 6.4 tho....

flush and continue fert at 1/2 of your normal. chem directions are oh so important to follow closely...

Just a quick mention, big bloom IS a micro nutrient formula. That's why it's the third part in FF 3 part series.

@jm. I poured in @ 6.2. Runoff was 5.2. I tested runoff on 2 plants and both came back @ 5.2
I looked into soil ph meter and can't afford the expensive ones (like 50-100 bills). I have a soil test kit where u drop tabs in a plastic vile mix a soil sample w/ ph'ed water. It also tests nitrogen potassium.. It was reading around 7.0 ish according to color chart. I'm sure it's not very accurate at all.
Thx for the reply in reference to humidity. It's always dry in the winter here. I overlooked humidity as being an issue until I really started worrying overall about my gurlies. I went from 20-25% RH to around 40% with humidifier. Just got it 2 days ago.
I've flushed the 4 sickest plants yesterday so we'll cee what happens..
Lots of noob mistakes I no..but in time I'll get it down!!!! (gotta stop puffin sooo much maybe) lol..or not:toke:
