Problem: Light green to yellow color started around day 14. New leaves forming but growth seems very slow and yellow color of one seedling specifically seems worse. Seedling [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] was second to sprout and main concern.

Medium/grow method:eek:rganic soil, coco coir, perlite 60%/20%/20%

Feed: and supplements used: Advanced Nutrients micro, grow, bloom

water source:tap water left out for 24+ hours in gallon jugs

Strain/age:super bud auto - greenhouse seeds. Currently on day 20.

light used: 2x 1000w led.

Climate: 40-50% humidity
72-88 temps

Additional info: Growing in closet with oscillating fan going in corner. 18/6 light schedule from start. Both seeds sowed straight to soil and sprouted day 4. Started in 10 gallon fabric pots (I know now this is much too big- switching to 3 gallon for new plants). Have made two changes that could be cause in last week.

1. Day 11 Added second 1000w led, only started with one. Realized few days ago they were way too close about 12 inches from plants. They are now at 24 inches. Light stunting them ? Causing color stress.

2. Day 14 Watered first full with run off with 1/2 strength advanced nutrients mix micro grow bloom. Did my soil not need anything added yet? I watered again today without nutrients as I’m scared of burning them more if that is even the problem.

Also for reference I have been waiting until sides of pot are peeling away from soil and top inch or two is dry before watering .5 to 1 gallon each. Then about 3-5 days.

Any help appreciated!

Yellowing early could be a nitrogen deficiency. Ph and those lights so close (stress) before could certainly be problematic. When you begin nutes, it's a good idea to give 1/4 of the published amount. See how that plays out before moving to higher amounts.
Get use to lifting the side of pots with thumb and index finger for when to water. You'll get used to the different weight when first watered to a lighter pot in the following days and when to next water.

Before Autocobs, I started my old led lights at 30" from seedlings. Let them establish and see how stretch goes before lowering.
Next run you could add dolomite lime to your medium. 1 tablespoon for each gallon pot size. Led lights enjoy creating calcium deficiencies.

I started the lights out all the way up in my room and sprouts came out quickly stretching. That’s why I originally moved them down very close but did too much. I’m waiting now to see if they start climbing a bit again I have basically no spacing between first leave sets.

If I have a nitrogen deficiency using my ph perfect nutrients should correct that shouldn’t it ? I will lower to 1/4 strength next water for sure.

I also wonder how many adjustments to make and how long to wait for a result before doing other things to find root cause.

One certainly hopes for that. My ph perfect only gets to the range of 6.2 - 6.5 which is still decent. I did ph from 5.8 -6.1. Now changed to 5.7 - 5.8. My filtered water has a ph of 8.

Are your lights diodes 3 watt or 5 watt? I had 5 watts for a few years before Autocobs and I needed to be somewhat careful with distances.

So they are 100 pc so 10 watt. (Zener diodes). I also am getting some soil ph and water ph meter tomorrow and will check my tap water/medium because I have no idea as of now.

I have one if those cheap all in one meters but I don’t think it’s accurate. Has ph at 7-8 in pots.

I don’t use those nutrients but I did read somewhere the THE nutrients don’t adjust your PH to the optimal range but that they allow the uptake of the nutrients through a wider range. But I believe you still need to be fairly close to the range they suggest, just that the magic substances they add allow uptake slightly outside what is usually considered ideal.
Just what I remember from seeing the PH perfect VS adjusted PH question before.

Right on ok. Or they may be ph perfect for hydroponics because that’s the intended medium I believe.

I’m gonna go another week or two without any nutrients anyways I think the soil should have plenty yet I jumped the gun and started too early. Also new growth today looks very good green so hopefully it is pushing through now. We will see.

So if light burn and nutrient lock isn’t enough we decided to transplant them both to smaller pots. Now sitting in 3 gallons and 5 more plants started in grow room to utilize space and lighting.

Yellow leaves in bottom of plant died and were easily pulled from plant today. One seems to be growing again healthy green the other is a bit curled and light green still.

Tested soil today it’s showing “neutral” roughly 7.0 ph level. My tap water in grow room tested with meter from 6.8-7.5 ph level.

So contrary to advices given before of being nitrogen difficient I believe I may be too high PH for my babies. What do you think is this a healthy level? I haven’t checked actual runoff but soil and water within +/- .5 of neutral 7.0 I would think are fine ? I’m thinking I need to either let them settle and recover from nutrient burn or work on lowering ph a bit if necessary.

Pictures attached.

It’s been about two weeks since transplant. Here’s one of the superbuds now. I continue to make mistakes on these girls so I’m actually surprised they are moving along at all.

Finally got my water situation dialed in I believe. Buying purified oxygenated water from Walmart it’s 6.6 PH right out of the jug. A drop or two with a few gallons comes down to 6.3 mixed in a 5 gallon bucket before hand watering.

Next mistake is that the last week temps in closet are up to 90 degrees most the day and humidity was as low as %30. It has to be slowing growth! So I now have more airflow and using humidifier/air conditioning to keep it at 71 night 78 day around %50 RH.

Any thoughts or advice on keeping these going? Do you think they will grow more and/or yield anything.

That looks far too small for the time it's been taking. I say lesson learned and start some more. I would avoid transplanting if possible. Test your water after all your nutes and those lights at 2x1000w seems a bit much. Which lights are those?

Was it an auto you planted? Generally want to avoid transplanting all together. I am using advanced nutrients pH perfect line and always have to pH up to get in the low 6.xx range.

Are you venting out of the tent and the room? You need to get that all the way out of you can do you have a truly fresh air supply and not just recycled air.

Cheers!
Karl
