Greetings all.
I've placed a couple orders with a very popular seed bank. I'm willing to bet most of you have at least heard of it, if not done business with them. Many who deal with them have very positive experiences.
Unfortunately, I've had problems with souvenirs from both my orders. Let's just say they're uncollectable. I had never had an issue with seed collectability before ordering seeds from this bank. Generally I'll order a few different strains and at least one will fail to do anything.. On my first order every single seed of a certain strain (Emerald Triangle Headlights Kush) was bad. Now on this order, my Fastbuds Green Crack appears to be going the same way, with 2 out of 3 so far failing to pop. After over a day of waiting for the 2nd of the two to do anything, I threw a random bag seed into the paper towel right next to it. The bag seed popped almost immediately.
Anyways, I'm not the only person that has had problems with souvenirs from this breeder, but we are few and far between and some of the more emotional complainers tend to get discredited and piled on in public forums like these.
So I wrote to the seed bank. They were friendly and communicative and advised me to continue to "collect" the remaining seeds from my last order and see what happens.
So here's the deal:
First off, I am absolutely sure that this business would not knowingly send out a bunk order.
They seem really up front and communicative, but there is something going on that should be objectively documented for the benefit of those of us that this is happening to, and for the benefit of the seed bank, in case there's a common handling issue with mine and other orders for which this has happened.. so this thread is going to be a photo journal of my attempts to "test the remaining seeds for collectability". I'm going to try them one by one, as my display case is kind of small and I only have the ability to collect a couple at a time. There will be 12 seeds in total, of 4 different auto strains. Every time a seed takes more than 24 hours, I will throw a random bagseed in with it to make sure a seed from a different source is collectible under the same conditions. I'll post pictures regularly so that more experienced members can let me know if I'm doing something wrong. Each time a seed becomes collectible, of course we'll have to wait a couple months while I collect it, but I'm in no hurry.
Also, reps from the seed bank are aware that I'm doing this and are fine with it. I won't name the seed bank to keep things objective as possible, though they did not ask to be kept anonymous.
I hope to learn, and I hope even more that calling a bunch of strangers' attentions to this issue will make it stop immediately, so I can enjoy collecting some of these souvenirs that I pay so much for, and get so excited about.
Thanks!
GS
