New Grower Second Timer - DP Auto Night Queen In DWC

I can already see the plant whose roots are in the water moving ahead of the other girl. First leaves are bigger and stem is thicker already. Just goes to show how much constant access to the water can have. Although it only has B-52 and voodoo juice, the plant is liking having easy access. I hope the other girl gets roots in the water soon, and doesn't fall behind.

They grow so fast in the right conditions. I’d be surprised if she doesn’t touch down some time today.

Wow, that would be cool! Hope you are right, DG! The other plant was just luckier to find an obubstructed path through the hydroton and net pot. The second plant is taking th emore scenic route to the water.

Be careful, she looks like she is getting a little too much light. The new growth looks a little reddish. Usually that means, lights are too close or CalMag def, and that's too early for that.

Not sure if it's just the color of the photo or not. I know your lights are pretty close. Just keep an eye on her!

Thanks for confirming, Med. I thought the same thing, since I have been rather aggressively lowering the lights over the last two days. I had them down to 20 inches because I saw an initial stretch that I wanted to nip in the bud (so to speak). I did that, but the plant in the water seems to like the light exactly where it is. I have tilted it a bit so the front plant is now 22 inches away again. Once the root hits the water, it will want more.

That is wrong in hydro, use all of your Base Nutrients at 50% to start and up it every week until slight tip burn then back off 10%.

Let the plant grow to the light. They don't need much light at all in the beginning.

Keep on rockin, and listen to [HASHTAG]#manogreen[/HASHTAG] when it comes to hydro. Brother knows his stuff!

I was trying to err on less isn't more, but you are saying I should give some base nutes first week, huh?

Thanks Med. I definitely have learned to listen to MOG. Will give them a little base nutes, and see how they like that!

Okay, I just added some base nutes to the reservoir at half strength of the Advanced Nutrients feed schedule, and turned on the drip line to give them a quick drink. Ppms are at 400. Let's see how they like it. I have the lights at 22 inches, and will monitor also. Temp perfect at 75 degrees and humidity at 65.

I have been reading so many journals wfrom folks with soil, that I just had in the back of my mind to not feed the first week. It's been so long that I had a seedling that I forgot to soil rules don't apply. Glad I posted the boring baby seedling pics, because I was able to easily correct.

Back on track! Thanks guys.
