Grow Room SCROG Frame : Fixed in Place???

Keep in mind you can stack screens. So if you put one at 12" and the plants plow through it like Rosie Odonnel at a buffet, you can just add another screen above it to spread them out. In the end your just trying to get equal light to each bud to Max out the yield.

I don't scrog because I need to pull my plants in and out of the cabinet a lot. It's a valid technique though and it grows monsters

Sorry to bump an older thread (and pardon my lack of knowledge/experience with autos) but is scrogging an auto really worth the effort? I figure that if I LST that by the time the tops reach the netting that the growth spurt would have already come and gone. Then again, could it be possible that most folks that scrog autos don''t LST and all the training is done within the confines of the netting ..which is technically still LST but on the screen. I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone but me but if someone could chime in with some clarification I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Keep in mind that most searches and tutorials are based on photoperiod strains that veg for months.. Some autos don't grow over 2 feet tall, so you may want to adjust that a bit. I put my diy net about 10in above my plants and adjust it as needed. I cant say that there is a set height. Every plant is different. One may be taller than the others, or grow faster than the others. Gotta take all that into account. If possible, make it adjustable.
That's where I'm at bud. I was looking for a ballpark distance and only info out there for scrogging is for photos. I will be doing a 2'x2' a scrog for my Hubbabubbahaze in Jan. I was planning to do 12" from soil, 1 thing I will mention is you may want to top if your scrogging. Many folk dont do a correct scrog, from what I have researched you should top your plant if your doing a scrog. You want your plant to grow sideways not up. I do lst like crazy, and have topped. I would agree that topping is better than just lst for scrogging, but would do both. This is the best tutorial i have found yet. It is for photos, but substitute auto with lowering your screen.

I will be journaling this in AFN in January in anyone is interested. Will be my 1st scrog so we can learn together. Stay lifted!

You want to pick a good strain not just any. You want one that goes longer than normal, that will help. Sativa strains may be better ones as they can go longer. Hubbabubbahaze is good one to top from what I hear so that's 1 I'm starting with. You can just lst it but I dont think it would work as well by itself.

Thanks for the suggestion of Sativas. I've yet to LST or Scrog in this cabinet so I think I'll go with the strains that I already have in mind and will see how they do with both. With me, it's best to stick to the 1:1 strains that I have in mind than it is to opt for something that's going to grow longer than normal. As much as I might like to, I can't allow myself to mess with my medicine in that way.

I have done fastbuds cbd crack. Awesome sativa dominate 1:1. Doesn't go long, but if they do gives you more time to recover and veg them not a must tho. I dont ever want to tell someone they cant do something because these plants prove people wrong on a daily basis lol. All is just a guide to get started, you need to adjust to the plants you are growing. If they're round dont put them in the square hole, they will guide you. I will wait to see how she does in veg before I determine final setup.

The cabinet has room for two in 5 gallon containers but I don't think the screen would be too accommodating for two plants so I'll start with one and see what happens by basic LSTing and it should give me a good idea of what's possible for the following round. Since the screen hangs by chains from all four corners, I've thought about lifting the rear of the screen and extending the netting up the back wall. Kind of a semi-vertical scrog. Although, I think I'd probably be better off doing something like that with a photo rather than and auto.

Its all up to you.
Just take in All the variables.. Genetics, pot size, light distance, height of the room. Ect
Add it up And make a logical decision.
Its different per everyones stlye
Biggest imo is leaving enough room to get good solid air flow between pot and net

Gonna be strain dependent for height I think as an xxl strain will need a higher screen I would think. The 1 thing I do worry about is not being able to just pull her out of the tent for an emergency. Working in a design where scrog would be connected under pot, so pot would sit like on top so the whole thing can be removed. I have these grow rings, but you lose a lot with them not being square.
