But i would like to see a color leaf with an all white bud like the budwiders have. Something like bobbys girl but all metallic'ed out with red or white buds

now thats a kickass descripton! I think we'd all love to see that!

i mean after all you are the purple Wizard my friend. It just wouldnt be right if you didnt get ALL of the shades of purp

Damn all your plants are making me envious Wiz... I need to have my own to play with ...

They have done alright HHH..for the way they have been mucked about..weather has been up and down so much..

Don't forget..if you are lucky enough to get a patio..south facing...

That picture with the purple ak47 gets me good... both the plants and the sun angle and intensity.. almost passed out when i saw it... god I miss the sun's warmth!

Yeah JM..I Chuffing Hate winter.

Anybody have an idea about what would be the best way to bake my manure/wood compost?

Why NC...just to speed up the decomposition..?
Just never heard of anyone doing it..

I hear you speak of the rare colors like the blacks and blues, and the metallic colors those would be something to see right there. BUT i feel if anyone gets em its going to be bailer
You could be right..he IS the Curiosity Collector...
Nah..yours will come..what goes in..Always comes out.

I Think K21 might be about to get colour in her JEM too...

Something like bobbys girl but all metallic'ed out with red or white buds
Yeah..I can See it....

Dragons and La Belle Noche have the Most metalic'd leaf..
should be possible.
The blackest Dragon starts off Red budded..
but the creeping Purple does it in.

Should be possible to Stop it.

Here is the Purple Russian x DC....
I wouldn't say she was particulally DC dom..
but if you look down on her overhead..you can see the oversized fan leaves that says her presence is felt.

@WIZ

There is a type of grub or caterpillar that lives in the soil, About mid May they evolve from a grub to a mobile caterpillar looking thing I call them cutter worms...

Then the little fuckers will start crawling up the stalk and once they find a place soft enough they start eating away...

If you don't catch them in time they'll hollow out the center of the stalk and either up or down the plant...

The only way to get them out is to either take a sterile needle and find where the worm is and poke it about four times... Or take a long blade of seed grass and feed it through the hole and it'll run the worm to it's hole then you can pinch its head off and pull it out...

So if you bake the compost first it'll sterilize the soil and any pest eggs or weed seeds will die...

Cheers AFN!!!

I was thinking about taking 2 metal saw horses and a piece of tin laid across them, Pouring the compost on top of the tin and starting a fire under it...
I figured that I would stoke the fire for about 4-6 hours then rehydrate the compost before bagging it...
Sound probable?

I was just reading some stuff last night that said runing some boiling water through your mixes will kill off larva and other bugs in the dirt. I am going to try it, as baking a tray of shit in the oven isn't going to fly with the Mrs.

Edit:
I love when wiz gets the cam out!! :D can't wait to get home and do a thread dive tonight.

Indeed... I have 2 or 3 times as much energy in the summer when I'm getting my "tanning" sun exposure.... what a difference... also get way hornier... anyone else get this "problem"?

yup... thats a common commercial method for it... usually run through conveyor ovens to high temp... then re-moisturized (or not) and bagged.

Sounds like a quicker, easier, cleaner solution... hadnt thought of that.... that would work fine.. provided you got soil temp high enough... guess you could pour through a few rounds to get the temp and volume enough to raise soil temps to kill level...

I know in farming we also use an "airation" method... if you let enough air to the mix but keep it together enough it heats up a lot from the bacteri... they reccomend i think 2-3 weeks at 12-14 degrees.

Yeah i think what i was reading was more for store bought bags of soil. I could see it's use in that regard, can't tell you how often i have used a bag only to find out it's infested with gnats or other what nots.
You wouldn't really want to kill everything in the manure, as you want those microbes. I was more reffering to soil in general. I tried to cook a tray of promix, and all i got was "What the fuck's that smell?" That was the end of that.

On a side note. I am giving water curing a try. One of the plants didn't flush well. So i have nothing to loose if it doesn't work. 4 more days on the couple test buds. 6 more days on the rest of the plant. After reading about it, i think it might be worth trying on not so flushed weed.
I doubt I will replace air drying with it, as you loose your terps to the water.. The flavors are half the pleasure of weed. So that's a big con of the water cure IMO.

I've experieneced all the same issues... and I can only imagine both the smell and the wife's reaction! lol

water curing? I'm not familiar I dont think... can you explain a little more?

@ Bailer

Yeah, did some reading on water cure too and apparently they aren't as big when finished either? I thought that was strange. But Cure in 1 week, and good if you've had problems like you've stated. I've seen people that did it with Mildew buds too. They've reported the smoke to be extra smooth though too.
So i guess breakdown on water cure:

Pros:
Fast Cure
Smooth Smoke
Problem Solver

Con's:
Weighs a little less
Half the Terps and Smell

But this is all from reading and pictures, as I have yet to water cure.

@ JM

My Dad is always telling me to take Vitamin D during the winter he says it is a mood enhancer that we gain from the sun during the summer through exposure.
I love the sun and it makes me feel great. My poor girls never experience it.

Pulled from another site:
"Proper water curing takes longer than a day. You take fresh cut buds and place them in a container and fill it with lukewarm water. Room temp water is ideal. Ideally, I use half gallon mason jars for the process, or one gallon Rubbermaid pitchers. Everyday, change the water. The first couple of days, the water will be dark, this is crap you don't want in your smoke, nutrients, starches and sugars being dissolved by the water. By the last water change, the water should be mostly clear. You do this for seven days.

When you have finished, you place the buds out to dry, preferably a dry net with tiers, use towels between tiers to catch drops of water the first few hours, and then remove them so they don't contribute to humidity. The bud will dry in 24 hours, ready to smoke and smooth. This process changes the appearance of the bud..... In the photo below, the dark bud was water cured and the lighter one was jar cured. Water curing makes the smoke more potent as well. WARNING, if you like terpinoids and pot aroma, do not use this method. It does drastically reduce aromas, which makes it a great technique before packaging and shipping."
