I did soilless peat (Sunshine #4) last winter after my DIY soil mix was shut down by gnats, and my current grow is another water only soil attempt. I also have some coco/perlite solos going at the moment. The current soil grow is going ok and will produce lots of bud, but it suffered a bit from my soil mix being a bit hot and/or incorrect pH. I am not sure what I will do next winter. It will either be a water only soil adjusted by this winter's experience, of back to salts and soilless or coco medium. At the moment, I feel like I might want to try soil one more time to see if plants stay healthy all the way on water only.Yup already been in contact with MOG and he told me same thing just fergitate to runoff once a week and I should be good. What did you switch to after the coco & auto pots with Salts?
If I go back to salt nutes, I may ditch the autopots and go with automatic top irrigation similar to what I set up this grow for my solos. After working with autopots for a few years now, I have concluded that I am not a big fan of sub-irrigation with salt nutes. Top watering with runoff is a fair bit more controllable with salt nutes IMO. Cost for my solo irrigation setup was trivial. Maybe $40 or so for a digital timer, and I already had a pump that I grabbed used at a junk store a year or two back. The rest was pretty much just hose and fitting I had in the supply stash already. So far, the system is working well, and I could easily use it to feed my 4x4 with 4 full sized plants and a few solos in it.
Too many options, too little time.
