Good afternoon lads,

As a first time grower I would like to share my first grow with you guys, and have some different opinions and expert advice on it where possible.

I am growing 4 Royal AK automatics and one Northern Light automatic.
Royal Critical automatic as well but still waiting for the seeds.

My light source is a 600 wat HPS SYLVANIA, at the moment only on half power (300watts).
Balast: Energy saving digital electronic ballast from Techone.

Soil is All-mix Organic from BIOBIZZ
Nutrients from Grotek:
- Heavy bud
- Bud fuel
- Solo-tek
- Vita max
- Blossom Blaster
- Monster Bloom

I also use Superthrive in a light dose

At the moment the plants look like they are in a good condition, as you can see on the pics (only the one on the left back side looks a bit like he is hanging down, not sure whats wrong with him).
In the four big pots we have the Royal Ak Automatics, 14 days since they sprouted.
In the middle the Northern Light Automatic, one week from sprouting.
I placed the Northern light already in a bigger pot, because after one week the small joghurt cup from the pic started to be too small :)

Now I have some questions for you guys
- Do I put the fan straight on the plants, or is it better to set the fan above the leaves so the fan is not blowing straight on the leaves?

- I also question myself about the Superthrive, cause I read on many forums that people do not believe in it.
I use 1ml/4l of water, adding it to the plants once a week.
I started to do this after one week.. any recommendations on this?

- As you can see my HPS lamp is hanging proximately at a hight of 100cm, normally I would hang it closer to the plants, but the temperature is too hot.
At the moment I have a temperature of 32 degrees when doors are closed.
I know this is too high but I cant get it down.
Is this doing any harm to them?
I guess cause I have the fan on all the time when the lamp is on, they will not burn?

My lamp is on a 18/6 schedule at the moment.

I give them a lot of water every three day, enough so the water leaks out through the drainage holes. After I leave them for three days.

Thx for the tips guys,
appreciate it!

:D:smokeit:Change the lights to 600 watts, some of the girls in the big pots are streching, also move light down as close as you can with out burning them,do the back of your hand trick.Fan should be blowing the leaves very litely and not directly on them. What are the nute numbers on the superthrive? You really shouldn't be giving nutes yet.I don't know what 32 degrees is in fareinheight but it should not be above 85 degrees ,even a little lower.I don't see any exhaust fans in your tent, with that hps you need cool intake air coming in and a good size fan to exhaust the hot air or you will cook the girls

Thx for your comment man, valuable information for me.
What do you mean with the stretching? Are they support to frow more higher instead of in width?

I don't have any exhaust fan, i do have the fan built in into my bathroom that's on all the time, this fan is bringing in fresh air.

I lowered the lamp already to a comfortable hight for the plants, thx.
If the temperature is already so high, is it not bad for the plants if i change it to 600?
I'm a bit scared of burning them because i don't have a proper ventilating system.
Cheers dude

:smokebuds:By streching I mean they are growing to fast trying to reach the light that makes them thin and spindly.lowering the light and switching to 600 watts should help. You will have to leave the door open or get an exhaust fan in there to get rid of the heat.Good luck with you grow.

300w is fine
he could just lower the light 12" will double the light (only drop 2-3" a day)

I dont think you will benefit from more than 300w-400w in that room if his light spacing is correct

The shower is 77 by 72, so indeed i think 300watt will do for the plants, otherwise i will be unable to regulate the temperature. I decided to not invest in an exhaust fan to keep the budget down. i will keep the door open and the fan from the bathroom on all the time, like this the temperature will not exceed the 30degrees (85degrees farenheit).
I ll upload some new pics by next week. Cheers

New update on the plants:

As you can see on the pics they evoluated nice since a couple of days ago.
The 4 AK Automatics looks very nice, I took some close up pics from them; though that the one is much taller than the other one I see nothing wrong in my opinion.
I am just a bit worried about the Northern Light, I waited to long to put the seed into the soil, and the root was already about 2cm. He came out well but as you can see he is really smal.
The leaves start to grow quite well but he is not growing a lot in size, while he should be taller than the AK automatics.
He is one week younger than the AK's though, is there anything to worry about this?
I lowered the light to a comfortable hight for the plants.
Also do I set the fan straight on the plants, or is it better to let the fan turn around the room, so its not blowing all the time on the plants?

Thx for the feedback.

Plants in the big pots are 4 AK automatics (16 days far)
The small pot is the Northern Light (9 days far)

Mmm looking forward to this grow as I have some AK from Royal Queen seeds!

If you got a fan that moves around let it hit your ladies while it turns.

Good luck mate!

Update - week 3

Here an update on my plants.
I was experiencing some heat stress couple of days ago, but by putting my fan closer to the plants the heat stress decreased and now they look good again.
I am giving them Grotek food at the moment, for the second time since last week.

I removed the lower one fingered leaves because they are not doing any good to the plants. So by removing them I hope the other leaves will be stimulated to grow more.
The small plant in the middle is the Northern Light, two weeks old (will be replanted in an 11l pot tomorrow).

If you see any worrying things on the pics please tell me, as any good advice would be good for me as its my first grow.

THANKS:hump:

Final yield!

Hi there,

Here I am with the final post about my first grow.
I included some pics I took during the harvesting-curing.
I had four Royal Ak Automatics, and one Northern Light which is going to be harvested tomorrow.

Total yield dried is 98 grams, but they prob still need to dry a bit, at the moment they are in mason jars since 5 days.
I let them hang for 10 days in the wardrobe you can see on the pictures, this just worked out fine.
They dried a bit too fast, as the temperature in the wardrobe was around 24 degrees, but there was a good circulation because of the oscilating fan inside.

So result is around 20-25 grams dried from each plant!
I was expecting a bit more but for first time I'm quite happy.

Smoke report:
Very amusing smoke, it just makes you smile non stop. It hits your face like a bomb and you are unable to be sad, it really gets you in a very happy mood.
I left it one week too long, maybe thats why it is a bit stronger as supposed to be, but not very sure about this.

All hairs are dark red, but still it's not puting you down, especially when you leave the house and go in to town, you ll feel the vibe and you definitely go into the twilightzone!

Enjoy buddies :bong:

Report of Northern Light coming in two weeks.
