Extraction Rosin Gummies

@Mcdee
thanks. I'm interested in this topic for sure. In fact I might just have myself a piece of chocolate to celebrate the fact that I'm THINKING about making some gummies! I'll use any excuse.

So I was googling gummie recipes and found some stuff on reddit where they say the best recipe is to buy some gummies from the store and melt them down and mix in decbarbed concentrate and whammo you are done. What do you think of that?
I was considering the same thing, as I have done this with Chocolate items. It easier to get a bag of Gummies than to make them. However, I would say the amount of ingredients I got will make a Lot more gummies for the money. The molds you have look small. So keep that in mind. You will need to eat more. I am hoping I get really good at making them and I can make non-medicated versions for myself and son. I love Gummies and the way I am making them uses 100% Juice. So that's a bonus.

I make them with my kids, they make a kit that you plug in and is perfect temp and comes with molds too. I like on a cooktop because you can make bigger batch. I dont think melting them would be as easy as you think. This is a very easy edible to make so dont over think it. They did look like small molds but will work. I recommend bigger vs small for molds. Be careful I use leaf molds that way there is no mistake when eating them. Also I would think I would be a pain to separate the gummy bears unless you want a mix of all the flavors lol. Im sure you can buy them by color with higher cost of course.

yes, DIY allows for some gourmet-ness to happen even for gummies. And if you like the them, which I do, then make some good ones. Sounds good. And And thanks for pointing out the size thing. I canceled that order just now because of that. I hate tedious small stuff like that. Hurts the hands. Going to find something XXL.

you had me question whether I was overthinking.... and I decided not quite yet. I'm barely mildly obsessed with gummies at this point. But it could tilt the other way if this thread keeps going along like this.

The smaller the mold the harder it is to fill them. Worms aren't fill friendly either. Honestly you can put parchment paper on tray and pour on then cut with pizza cutter. Mold are good for portioning size. You can do things like 2 colors. Just make 2 different batches, fill molds halfway let cool and fill rest with second color. Get creative in it lol.

I was thinking of sheets of it and you just cut it up in to perfect doses. But then you loses the novelty. Chocolate bar molds might be ok to try along those lines. I'm going to take some time and spend a few hours "researching" gummiebear/candy molds. Might as well since I can't make any for a while.

what size in liquid oz or ml would you say would be a good average size for a single dose of medium to high strength gummie material?

Cant a answer that all depends how strong you make it. I have large smoking tolerance, but I dont do edibles daily so tolerance is lower for that. I believe my molds are 8-10ml and 8 gets me very high. That hits me hard, but 5-6 is more likely a better dose at 1g of rosin per like 40ish gummies. Everyone is different tho so hard to say. You can add more rosin of you like, want to make like 1 gummy be enough see what works for you. Lime 3-4g in what I make would be like 1 or 2 gummies but have to test. That's a lot rosin tho, I like to get high but want to come back down too lol.

Id like it so one gummie gets you where you need to be. Not multiples. And that might mean a larger size but thats fine because its less work to make them. I'm thinking of getting a few different sizes of a mold like maybe those smaller peanut butter cups and play with the sizes and how much rosin I use in them until I get something that works well for me. Once I get that figured out I'll get some different molds of the size that works and get in to some novelty shapes.

Here is what I have besides the leaf. I have 4 of the pineapples, 2 yellow gummy bears, cant find the swedish fish like the worms came with kit.

If you want them to be like real gummies I cant stress more about the unflavored gelatin use 250 bloom. Key to being more gummy than jello. While your waiting you should try making some without rosin. See how it is making, will make next time easier, and then you'll have some homegrown gummies lol.
